Ethiopia has not yet tested even 100,000 suspected cases in a span of over two or so months. But the number of confirmed cases has reached 831 after 100 more people tested positive for the virus over the past twenty-four hours.

According to Ministry of Health, only three patients, from those confirmed over the past 24 hours, had a recent travel history. Thirty-five patients are confirmed to have contact with an infected person. Sixty-two people have neither a recent travel history nor contact with an infected person.

In terms of age, the patients range from 3 to 70 years of age.

The number of infected people is less than one percent of those tested so far. However, given the rapid increase over the past few weeks and in view of the fact that not too many people are tested so far, the coronavirus situation in the country is worrisome.

I tell you, comparing its new cases to those in the old country, the pandemic is raging in that small blessed nation of Djibouti. It has more than 200 new cases everyday lately close to 3,000 today. That is more than 10% of the total tested. Sudan is not faring better either. That will not be good news to the people of the old country especially in Eastern Oromia, Afar, Somali, Amhara and Shangul regions. It is outright impossible to stop every illegal trespassing in those areas. So let’s not stop or slow down in giving a helping hand in every way we can. Let’s share that last red cent at our disposal. Let’s do this!!!!
