I told you! I told you! I told you! The recovery rate is now officially 90%. I was even given some jingling changes with it. 90.05% to be exact. There is no looking back in her playbook. Ain’t gonna be my fault if she takes it to the big house of 100% in a matter of a week or so. What does this tell you? What does this accomplishment tell you? It tells you two things which I will tell you this coming Monday.
The numbers here in Good Ole USA are looking good and very encouraging but it is no time to be careless. Both in the old country and here in USA citizens should not let their guard down yet. The hideous virus is still out there lurking and mutating. Some countries are said to be facing a 3rd surge of the pandemic. We should learn from Vietnam and Taiwan. Taiwan had a meager 1,294 total cases on May 15, 2021 but today that number is 10,956, increased by almost 10-fold in just three weeks. That island nation had zero deaths everyday for more than 9 months since the outbreak but today the virus has killed 38 Taiwanese in just 24 hours. Tens have been dying on a daily basis for more that 3 weeks now. The absence of new cases there made the citizens and even healthcare officials so complacent that they shunned the mitigating protocols. Clinics and hospitals were said to have stopped testing patients for the virus even though they showed symptoms similar to COVID-19. All it took was one China Airline pilot who brought the mutated virus from the UK to start the havoc wreaking that jewel of democracy. He carried the virus returning for an overseas flight, took it to his favorite massage parlor and bingo, a super spreader was born. That should be taken as a dire warning to all of us. We should all get vaccinated and keep wearing face masks when around crowds of people. There is no question that the virus is going to reinvent itself into a new variant sooner or later. I hope I will be proven wrong but my gut feeling is this virus is not SARS of 2002 and will hang around beyond 2021 even 2022. For now we have something rejoice at these encouraging numbers. Stay vigilant and safe y’all!!!!
