The Ogaden National Liberation Front and the Welkait Tegede Committee issue separate statements distancing themselves from the newly announced opposition coalition

(Nairobi, Kenya) — The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) and the Welkait Tegede Amhara Identity and Border Restoration Committee issued separate position statements rejecting involvement with and opposing the newly announced opposition coalition, the “Ethiopian Peoples’ Forces Alliance for Survival.”
The clarifications follow public announcements claiming seven political and armed organizations—including the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF)—had formed a joint front targeting the federal government.
The ONLF dismissed reports citing its inclusion in the newly formed alliance as false, stating that the organization has not entered into any political or military coalition with armed groups.
The party clarified that statements circulating on social media under its name originate from a faction led by former chairman Abdurahman Sheikh Mahdi, who holds no official authority or representational mandate within the party. Reaffirming its commitment to the peace agreement signed with the federal government, the ONLF stated that it remains dedicated to pursuing its political goals solely through peaceful, constitutional means.
In a parallel statement, the Welkait Tegede Amhara Identity and Border Restoration Committee voiced strong opposition to the alliance, cautioning against any political or military cooperation involving the TPLF.
The committee stated that political alignments with the TPLF undermine long-standing Amhara identity and territorial demands across Welkait, Tegede, Tselemt, and Raya. Stressing that it has conducted a legal and political campaign for years, the committee urged the public to scrutinize the past records and motivations of coalition members before offering support, reiterating that territorial and identity questions must be resolved through peaceful legal channels.

There you have it. It looks like every member of this ‘Allies’ cocktail is ‘un-allied’ it its own concoction and fraught with factions. Armed conflicts should never be accepted as means to solve economic and political issues. Yes, there are so many reasons to be angry about that country but there aren’t any that our anger only can amicably produce solutions for. Anger can be both normal and abnormal. It can make us lose composure and do things senseless. Just look at what have been going on in Amhara, Oromia, Tigray and a few other regions. On Monday one side, be it the regime’s soldiers, roam into towns killing and pillaging. The same night a raging angry armed group comes in and do the same to innocent civilians and their properties forcing thousands into refugee camps. Once the residents are displaced from their village they built with their hands and lived in it for generations, they might never see it again.
Meanwhile it is very sad to see the elites who should know better here among us and inside that country are not helping in finding solutions but they are busy fanning the raging flames by demonizing noble people using terms like ‘Neftegnas, Oromummaas, Woyanes and others as pejoratives. This ugly name calling has been going on since the late 1960’s. Then they used to call other citizens ‘archaic, feudal, bourgeoisies, lumpen, opportunists, imperialists’ stooge’ and many other names as demonizing pejoratives. Once they labeled you as such, you are the enemy of the people and therefore you must beeliminated. They also had one term they used: ‘Masses’. To this day I have not found one well read intellectual among us who can convincingly tell me who is the in ‘masses’ and who is not. They plagiarized it from the sciptures of Marx, Lenin and Mao. Such demonizing culture they left behind is still making that country and its citizens suffer. That is why I am holding the regimes since 1974, armed groups and bigoted elites equally responsible for the human lives lost and propetties destroyed since then. Again, there is no issue, not even one, that must be solved by violent form of struggle. None!!! I told you not to start with me about ‘armed’ struggle!!!!!
