Toronto – Sebhat Nega, the ideologue and one of the founders of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) is breaking the silence on the turmoil with the organization.

In his latest interview with Woin (TPLF newspaper)  , he harshly criticized the Debretsion-led leadership.

“The senior leadership Debretsion leads should be cut and removed from the party,” Sebhat, who is in his 90’s and currently living in the United States, said during the interview.  He described them as “ተቸካይ እና ቆሞ ቀር” which could translate  stagnant and inflexible.

He seems to be entrusting the task of “rescuing” the party to the junior and lower levels of the leadership of the party.

The TPLF has been facing resistance in recent months from the  opposition parties operating in the Tigray region , from the “Tigray army” and the people in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. Under Debretsion’s leadership, the party split into two groups.

The party’s former foreign relation and former Interim president of the region, Getachew Reda, along with dozens of top level party officials parted ways with the Debretsion led group within the TPLF. On the surface, the split seems to have something to do with the implementation of the Pretoria Agreement  and the party’s legal status with the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia. This group accuses Debretsion’s group of having intention to start a war in alliance with Eritrea. They argue the TPLF leaders are interested in the war because they see it as an escape route from accountability for alleged crimes – including starting the devastating war.

The  party has been allegedly engaged in fostering political and military relations with Eritrea with a goal to trigger a conflict against the Federal government which many fear will engulf the entire Horn of Africa region. However, both parties have been denying intent to start a war.

The TPLF has been accusing the Federal government of violating the terms of the Pretoria Agreement which ended the 2020-2022 bloody war. Eritrea, on its part, accuses the Federal government of having an intent to violate its sovereignty and preparing for war to acquire access to the sea by force.

As is the case with opposition parties and people in the Tigray region, Sebhat Nega seem to see the TPLF-Eritrea alliance , which is known as Tsimdo, as something that does not work.  He explicitly spoke that he does not support the alliance.

“Isaias is not suitable for partnership,” Sebhat is cited as saying.  On the other hand, he has urged the TPLF to form an alliance with Fano forces and the Oromo Liberation Army(OLA).  Fano forces have been battling the Federal government for over two years now with the aim to reverse what they describe as the “existential threat”  of the Amhara people.

The OLA, which some analysts still see as the military wing of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), has been linked to dozens and dozens of the massacre of ethnic Amharas in the Oromia region of Ethiopia and beyond. The organization also aims to secede Oromia region from the rest of Ethiopia.

Sebhat Nega‘s remark came at a time when tension is growing between Tadesse Worede Interim Administration and the TPLF leaders.

  1. Just curious. How come it is so easy for former government officials to come here and get legal status to live? Many of them are so adept survivors and eloquent in expressing their mind. They are peerless in conniving to grab your and my ears. They pitch one group of people against another in every line they crafted and when they get tired of it, it is time to come here and reinvent themselves. They pitch citizens on what they call ‘class’ line and when that wanes on them they quickly switch their pens and moving jaws to ethnic lines. In their demonic scriptures there is one group of people who they call enemies. They have made it very tough for those who work very hard to build and repair/maintain bridges among the noble people of that country. The origin of all these grinding issues bedeviling that country is that demonic ideology of Marxism/Leninism/Maoism that set its feet there in the late 1960’s. It has been breeding generations of twisted mind one after another for the last 6 decades. Guns have taken over their twisted and cruel minds. It is so tragic. May The Almighty Our Creator Save Those People!!!.

  2. Most Tigrayans opposed the TPLF-Eritrea satanic alliance

Most Tigrayans opposed the TPLF-Eritrea alliance, which is known as Tsimdo, and they see it as something that does not work for anyone involved except for the genocidal regime of Shabia. Tigrayans have already explicitly spoken that they do not support this satanic alliance.
Certainly! Here are pairs of animals that cannot be effectively tied together to plough land, along with explanations:

Elephant and Rabbit (Shabiya and TPLF)
Reason: Elephants are large, strong animals capable of pulling heavy ploughs, while rabbits are small rodents with no strength or ability to pull tools. Tying them together would not be feasible because the rabbit cannot contribute to ploughing, and the size difference makes it impossible for them to work as a team.
Camel and Fish (Shabiya and Woyane)

Reason: Camels are land animals that can be used for transportation and ploughing in some regions, but fish are aquatic creatures incapable of working on land. They cannot be tied together or used simultaneously to plough land because fish cannot operate on land or pull equipment.

Woyane and Shabiya do not possess the innate ability to emerge as effective working partners or to accomplish tasks in unison simply by coming together or agreeing to merge and work together without considering the potential outcome of the so-called Tsemido and what their inherent faculties bring forth after unholy unison.

  3. But there are a couple of what he said that I concur with. TPLF should expurgate its current leaders peacefully and replace them with new younger members. The other one is not to take Al-Toweel Isu and his clique at their face value. Never!

  4. Another earthquake just hit around the same area it rattled a week or so ago. This one was not too far(about 26 miles) from the town of Adigrat in Tigray region and measured 4.5 on the Richter scale. The area is mostly inhabited by our Afar brothers and sisters. The previous ones had done considerable damage to homes and let’s hope this one will not be as bad. Awash/Fentale, look out!!!
