TORONTO, Canada — Mistresilasie Tamerat, Secretary of Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Party (EPRP), spoke to the Anchor media regarding the arrest of Yishak Wolday, the Party’s public relation head, and Abebe Akalu.
As well, security forces have arrested Abrea Nigus, a lawyer who represented high profile politicians who are thrown to prison, including the former State Minister for Peace, Taye Denda.
Mistresilasie told Anchor Media that Yishak was taken from his residence on Monday by security forces in civilian clothes. Abebe Akalu was arrested on Tuesday. He too was taken by security forces from his residence in Addis Ababa.
She said her party has confirmed that they are arrested at the criminal investigation department of the Federal police in the Mexico area, Addis Ababa.
They have not appeared in court yet. The government has not yet remarked why it arrested them. Ethiopian activists express concern, from their social media updates, that the government will intensify crackdown on dissenting voices.

I’m for freedom of the press because if that is denied or compromised then it is dead leaving a society with no alternate ideas. But such freedom requires being free of anger and therefore devoid of using abusive terms. Journalistic ethics includes not jeopardizing the safety of others just because of freedom of the press. I hope this is not or will not be the case.
One of the reasons I keep coming to this esteemed website is they keep their sources confidential when they think/believe their news report will jeopardize the safety of their source. I commend the editors of this esteemed website for living up to the revered journalistic ethics. Being angry will not solve problems but it will make them more complicated with no chance of tackling them constructively. I’m now worried about our daughter/sister. PM Abiy! Don’t even think about it. Don’t touch this young lady with a 14 ft pole. Leave her alone.
