Toronto – Amhara Fano forces are making another claim of significant military gains against government forces over the past few days.
According to local news sources, like Ethio Focus, in the Gondar area alone there has been fighting on nine fronts. It cited sources from the area to report that Amhara Fano Gondar Teklay Gizat forces reported that they even took control of several district towns. Enfraz, Metema, and Belesa are among the towns that came under fano forces’ control over the past two days. However, government forces were able to retake Enfraz town.
In some of the areas, the Fano forces reportedly targeted camps of anti-riot forces – whom the government has been relying on for its operation in the region for at least six months now.
In Metema, as reported by Ethio Focus, a battle between government forces and Fano lasted for several hours. It was an intense one particularly in Shimele Gora and Tariku Gora localities. Two fano forces are killed in a combat situation and three others are wounded. Dozens of government forces are reportedly killed. Fano seized firearms.
A fighting is reported in Gaynt, south Gondar, too. It has been underway for two days. The result of which is unspecified yet. Alpha and Takussa is another area where intense fighting has been reported.
The Ethiopian government has been making claims, including through defense chief of Staff Berhanu Jula who recently appeared at the Ethiopian Parliament, that “over 90 percent of armed groups [including Fano],” are eliminated.
“Operation tide” which the government launched about three weeks ago was meant to eliminate the remaining “10 percent” forces. Fano forces claim that they have successfully reversed the operation.
Similarly, several battles have been reported in the Gojjam area. As is the case in Gondar, Fano forces in this part of the Amhara region claim capture of several towns and seizure of sizable fire arms. Asres Mare, one of the key Fano leaders operating in the region, is cited as saying that forces in the region proved again that the government can not win the war by military means.
The Ethiopian government has not yet remarked on the latest claims from the Fano forces.

Just look at these two conflicting news about the fracas in Amhara region. One news is telling us those fighting the regional government are scoring one victory after another and on the same day the regional government is boldly declaring its capital is an open and safe city with the curfew lifted. Both news came out on the same day.
It is the same in Oromia. Every time the dreadlocks donning thug get caught killing innocent civilians, he comes up with news about both the regional and government forces killing innocent civilians.
It is same o, same o!!!
Dear Over Qualified Editors,
