Toronto – Eritrea has responded, via the minister for information, to the allegation Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos made in a speech at the Foreign Policy Forum which was organized on Thursday at Addis Ababa University.
The Minister alleged that “…Eritrean troops are in control of several local administration units in northern Ethiopia, areas that fall squarely within Ethiopian sovereign territory.” Another allegation was “interference in the internal affairs of the country” in the form of forming alliance with the Debretsion led faction of the TPLF and support to armed groups in Ethiopia.
The minister said Ethiopia has been restraining but “there is a limit to it.”
Eritrea seems to understand the the foreign Minister’s speech as “war manifesto”
Yemane Gebremeskel, Eritrea’s Minister for Information, wrote on “Potemkin Party’s declared “war manifesto” seems to be morphing – through constant packaging and re-packaging – into ‘the aggrieved party’ mode these days.”
It has been usual for him in recent times to refer to Ethiopia’s ruling “Prosperity Party” as “Potemkin Party.” Eritrean activists on social media widely use the description.
Eritrea also called the latest narrative from Gedion Timotheos, which situated his government’s argument with a revisionist context of how Eritrea evolved to be a state, as “blasphemous pronouncements on Eritrea’s independence.”
Yemane Gebremeskel added “The transparent ploy is designed to hoodwink public opinion by rationalizing the unprovoked and reckless war that the PP has been itching to unleash against Eritrea for the past two years as a ‘legitimate act of self defense. “
Ethiopian FM speech painted Eritrea an an actor engaged in destabilizing and making Ethiopia insecure which he framed as “unwritten Isayas Doctrine.”
Yemane responds that “Eritrea has invariably been on the receiving end for the costly and unnecessary conflicts that successive Ethiopian regimes have and continue to unleash because they covet their neighbour’s land and endowments. “
Also, Eritrea denied that it did not cause the 1998-2000 border war. It says it “was unleashed by the incumbent Ethiopian regime under the putative pretext of “dispute on Badme and its environs.”
On the issue of access to the sea which the Ethiopian government sees as a “matter of existence,” Eritrea sees it as the ruling party’s “…irredentist malaise with its current war agenda cloaked in ‘sovereign access to the sea…’ “

That is my other Black Italian homeboy from Abruzzo. We go a long way back to the late 1960’s. I just got off the telephone after talking for more than one hour. He and my other homeboy Al-Toweel Isu are pissed off by those guys at Arat Kilo. They are mad because those two guys Abiy and Gedion Timotheos are accusing Eritrea of violating the territorial integrity of their country which means war. Their indomitable army is now at the outskirts of Addis/Finfine within 2 hours after launching their blitzkrieg. Abiy and Jula have fled the country and that proves the fact that Ethiopians are afraid to fight. They are the most coward people in the world especially those Amharas and Oromos. Ethiopia! You’re toast! Good bye!!!!
Pardon me for now because I am munching on the delicious re-invented lasagna my hommies Yemane and Isu sent me.
It says
“Eritrea denied that it did not cause……..”
So does that mean Eritrea accepts that it did cause…….?????
