Toronto – 42 Ethiopians from Wolkait area are reportedly killed in Khartoum following just days after Al-Burhan forces recaptured the city from the Rapid Support Force (RSF) forces.

Chalachew Abay, public relation of Lesane Gefuan – Wolkait Identity Committee – told Anchor Media that the killings were in several locations in Khartoum. Samry forces were organized as part of the army 70 of the TPLF ( now the organization has two factions following divisions in the past eight or so months).

Mr. Chalachew , who was once a refugee in Khartoum, says he has the lists of 15 of the victims. However, family members are not informed about it – the reason he is not releasing the names.

“Disturbing voices being heard from our compatriots in Sudan,” he told Anchor media.

He added that the TPLF army that supported Al-Burhan has plans to carry out more killings. Many who are from the Wolkait area are fleeing Khartoum but he is concerned that they will not be safe.

The TPFF army who fought alongside Ab-Burhan wearing Sudanese Government Army uniform had a plan to ultimately launch an offensive targeting Wolkait, according to Chalachew.  A view of footage aired on Anchor Media news coverage shows a young Ethiopian looking group in Sudanese uniform dancing to Tigrigna music.

There is already an army in the range of less than 30 kilometers to Wolkait. Mr. Chalachew says the Ethiopian government has information about the development in the area but it is not acting. Mr. Chalachew has been critical of Abiy Ahmed’s administration stance on the Welkait question. He sees it as one that will “lead to perpetual problems.”

Army 70 of the TPLF forces – which was allegedly involved in the Maikadra Massacre in November 2020 – are said to have fought alongside Al-Burhan forces throughout the course of the conflict. They were also part of the campaign to recapture Khartoum.

At the time of this writing, the Ethiopian government has not remarked on the news of the killings of 42 Ethiopians in Sudan.  The Ethiopian Embassy in Sudan has not released any statement either.
