TPLF Spokesperson Michael Asegedom Claims Strikes Hit Schools and Farmland, While Residents in Alamata Report Insurgent Occupation of Educational Facilities

TORONTO, Canada — The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) leadership is making another allegation that the Federal government carried out another drone strike targeting civilian institutions.
DW Amharic cited Michael Asegedom, TPLF spokesperson, as saying the “federal government is carrying out drone strikes on innocent civilians and civilian institutions.”
In Dejen, North West Tigray, a secondary school was attacked with a drone strike for a second time. It is entirely destroyed, he stated. In Enderta, a seedling center is attacked. He described the attack as “very serious.” In Southern Tigray zone, in Raya Azebo zone farmers were attacked as they were undertaking activities in their farms.
The spokesperson claimed that no military facility or equipment was attacked in the drone strike. DW Amharic quoted him as saying
“There is no military facility or military equipment supplier involved. None of the attacks carried out so far have targeted military-related facilities or logistics providers. It is completely false and very misleading. Everything I have told you so far concerns attacks carried out against schools, public facilities, and city residents.”
Meanwhile, residents particularly in the southern part of the region say, according to DW Amharic report, that TPLF forces are using schools, health centers and places of worships as makeshift military camps.
A resident of Alamata told DW Amharic that there are eight high schools ; four of them serving as military camps for TPLF. There are six elementary schools, and they are military camps.
It appears the Ethiopian Defense Force has not remarked on the latest claims of drone attack in the Tigray region of Ethiopia.
The Federal government has carried out several drone strikes in the Tigray region of Ethiopia over the past few months. Military leaders including the Defense Chief of Staff, and political leaders have been making allegations of the emerging “anti-Ethiopia” military coalition , Tsemo.
The new alliance is composed of the TPLF forces, Fano forces in Amhara region, the government of Eritrea and Oromo Liberation armies. While some in the opposition quarter express concern about the viability of the new coalition, politicians like Andargachew Tsege assert the greater danger to Ethiopia is Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government. Andargachew alleges that Abiy’s government is in panic and extensively engaged in siphoning public resources.
