Back in the late 90s-Ethiopian Calendar that is-we were hooked on F.r.i.e.n.ds and courtesy of one of the MBC channels of the KSA, we could watch it for free. We were so into the Sit-Com that video rental shops used to produce ‘selected mixed- episodes’ on VHS tapes and it was in high demand among customers.

In one of the episodes Joey’s good little sister gets pregnant and the brother was told the sad news. He was so devastated and inconsolable. At last he wants to know how she could do this to the family and she tries to explain but ends up wistfully observing that her boyfriend was so funny that she couldn’t help it.

In response to the ‘funny ‘ character streak, in my humble opinion, Joey delivers one of his memorable punch lines-for funny you laugh, Mona, you don’t get pregnant for fun!

The Ukraine was supposed to laugh…

1-Zelensky’s Comic Roots

As we have come to learn beginning from his adolescence years, Zelensky knew nothing but comedy. By most accounts, he was very good at it- by Russian standard at least. Make no mistake he was a Russian alright- right until the script for his comedy Servant of the People became a party program and landed him in the Presidential mansion by a rare fluke of electoral turn of events.

Only there was one technical glitch to overcome. The Ukrainian President is yet to learn to become a proper Ukrainian. Recently I have read that the Zelenskys were unapologetically Russians like most Jews from the former USSR constituent Republics dispersed over the whole wide world and the State of Israel. In other words, he was more like a Yanukovych President than a Yushchenko one. So a team of Ukrainians tutors were hired for him to transform him first into a Ukrainian next into a Ukrainian nationalist and eventually to enable him graduate to a good old Banderite Russophobe.

Ostensibly propped by the West, he kinda pulled it off in flying colors, didn’t he? But it shouldn’t come as a surprise as the man is still in character and reads from a comedy script. Only when the script reads that close to a quarter of a million Ukrainians soldiers  have been killed by the  ‘bloody Russians’, it actually means they were indeed dead and buried-for a comedy rating.

The Europeans and Americans know this and have a good laugh at the method of acting taken to the highest level behind curtains. I know little about Zelensky’s comedy Servant of the People but from what I have read it is almost a plagiarized version of Chris Rock’s Head of State.  Now imagine Chris Rock becoming the actual President of the United States of America on account of his movie Head of State.  America wouldn’t have him for an alderman!

But in the Ukraine?  The distinction between a bottle of colored liquid solution in a movie production set and the actual dripping living blood of a young man is blurred as long as Brussels and Washington are enjoying the Sit-Com and rating it high.  The United States would no longer dare do something like that in Africa for instance. You know why? The public wouldn’t be fooled twice.

They had dealt Somalia such a crippling hard blow that the Nation is still walking on its four. The Congo is still trying to come to terms with the murder of one of its illustrious sons Lumumba by CIA operatives. Libya has virtually disintegrated. The Sudanese are missing former President al Bashir almost like the Mahdi.  Who would blame them? In the face of all these, the greatest riddle of the decade would be how Ukrainians could be so gullible as to swallow bait as long as it is marked in English and originated in the Occident.

2-‘When a Beast Devours another Beast’

When Viktor Orban was asked to explain why he isn’t rushing in to take his place in the Russia bashing bandwagon, he replied that in all honesty and in good conscience he sees no point in taking any side when two brotherly Slavic Nations are butchering each other for the amusement of some sick politicians in Brussels.

Orban wouldn’t be complicit in the West’s  adventure to set two ‘East Slavic Brutes’ against one another and one more time secure their enduring interest in the Eurasian SubContinent without committing boots on the ground unlike in the middle east and Afghanistan.  He knew the West is reasoning like Ivan Karamazov did when he cleverly set his older brother and father against each other and literally admitted his intention to his younger brother saying if a beast devours another beast it is a good riddance.

I couldn’t help laughing out loud recently when I read Sergie Shoigu’s- Secretary of the National Security Council- interview. He was rather frank when sharing the naiveté of the Russian leadership in the 90s. Apparently back then Russia was asking the West to let it join the EU and NATO. Naturally they refused. They had a better idea. Once Russia joins the community of Western Nations they wouldn’t be able to do anything like they are doing now.

The West’s primary interest is to see the Russian Federation break up into nine small pieces.  They don’t give a damn about Ukraine, it just came in handy, a cheap willing accomplice. Have you tried to read bylines syndicated by yahoo news? The writers are singularly tasked to virtually kill as many Russian soldiers as possible, to create imaginary secessionist tendencies and movements among natives of the north Caucasus and Tatars, to depict every single Russian official as blood trusty maniacal despot.  They count on the presumed Western tendency to take any bad news regarding Russia without the slightest inclination for a fact check. Newspapers like The Telegraph can write anything like the long deceased method acting guru Lee Strasberg has condemned Putin as a medieval autocrat and get away with it.

The funniest thing about Western pundits is their view of the Russian economy. Following the thousands of sanctions slapped on the Russian Federation they predicted that the economy would collapse within months. On the contrary the Russian economy bounced and registered a steadfast growth unlike the rest of Europe which is sliding towards recession.  These are facts and the fake news spin doctors could do nothing about it. So what they did was, they made a 180 degree turn and declared that the Russian economy is growing so fast that it overheats and is destined to crumble! Isn’t this pathetic?

3-Is Putin Gaslighting the West?

The West’s moral bankruptcy is imminent. It has become so banal as to creep out the rest of the world.  Do you know what the infamous IOC did to the Serbian judo athlete Judoka Nemanja?  As is customary in the Orthodox rite of his Church he crossed himself before the match. The IOC was mortally offended by the gesture and banned him for five months. Doesn’t this measure scare a normal human being to utter stupefaction?  On the contrary President Putin is inviting families who are unable to fit into the West’s decadent lifestyle to settle in Russia.  They are beginning to.

Western establishments have banned news outlets like RT. Reason? Increasingly they are becoming credible sources among the intellectuals of Latin America and Africa. They are demonizing RT’s Editor in Chief in such mean terms but the effort has become counterproductive as RT and Margarita Simonyan have become household names. President Putin and Sinomyan are accused of interfering in the American Presidential election naturally favoring Donald Trump.  And Putin? He declares that he is ‘endorsing’ Kamala Harris and for lack of anything better to say, the Whitehouse was like ‘stop talking about us!’  like feuding kids do. At any rate, we keep our fingers crossed for Trump.

God Bless.
