Toronto – As the situation in the Tigray region of Ethiopia is going out of control leading to imminent war, Getachew Reda, President of Interim Administration in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia is calling for Federal government intervention in the region. It appears that the form of intervention is “law enforcement.”
“The federal government has enough reason to intervene in the region and provide any form of support,” Getachew is cited as saying.
His call for the Federal government came after military commanders in the region loyal to the TPLF faction under the leadership of Debretsion Gebremichael dismantled the city administration in Adigrat, which is only about 38 kilometers from Kokobay, a town within the Eritrean border.
Getachew also reported that forces supporting the Debretsion group encircled civilians who protested the forceful measure in Adu Gudom and parts of Mekelle, opened fire and wounded many.
Getachew had about a half an hour long interview, in English, with Tigray Mass Media Agency which was shared on social media.
In the interview, he called on the International community and the Federal government to take into consideration the deteriorating situation. He warned that parties to the agreement should take into consideration that the dissolution of the Pretoria agreement could lead to a dangerous situation.
Getachew sees a more devastating war in Tigray if the Pretoria agreement collapses. While indirectly admitting that the other group has issues with him, Getachew argues that their move is not just about removing certain individuals from power in the region. “It is about the Pretoria agreement,” he added. There appears to be support for Getachew Reda in the region. However, there are also those who see him as Abiy Ahmed’s stooge and even as a “traitor.” Also, there seems to be a thinking that the balance of military power is in favor of Debretsion’s group.
Tsadkan Gebretensae, deputy president of the interim administration in Tigray, published an article on African Argument this week in which he claimed that “the implementation of Pretoria Agreement is the best option for Tigray.
About two days ago, Getachew Reda’s administration suspended Major General Yohannes Woldeghiorgis, Brigadier General Megbey Haile and Major General Masho Beyene over alleged illegal move in supporting an “illegal group” in the region – the TPLF faction under Depression.
Notably, it is the force that General Masho Beyene led that dismantled the administration in Adigrat city, according to sources. His forces broke into the office and removed the mayor of the city.
Eritrean news sources on Tuesday reported that forces loyal to Debretsion Gebremichael took control of the airport in Mekelle and that Getachew Reda has fled to Addis Ababa. But this is not verified from any other sources a day after it was reported.
Getachew Reda argued that “there is every reason to think that there is foreign intervention” making reference to Eritrean intervention. Many of the generals loyal to Debretsion Gebremichael had reportedly clandestine meetings with Eritrean authorities in Eritrea , and they were promised military support. The generals deny it.
The Ethiopian Federal government has not remarked about the situation in Tigray at the time of this writing.

Getachew Reda and Tsadkan head the submissive group and they do not have any support in Tigray now. General Tsadkan was the one who gave in to US pressure and accepted the withdrawal of TDF from Ethiopia and saved the government of Abiy Ahmed. The Tigray regions they come from have Amhra influences tand connections and are known for itheir dubious Tigray identity.
I don’t subscribe anyone else intervention in this crisis created by fools. It is something that should be resolved by the people of Tigray. Otherwise, bigots and connivers will call it a war between Abiy.and the people of Tigray. That is what they have been calling the bloodletting in Amhara region. First bigots killed leaders of the region and created chaos. Then the rest of the leaders of Amhara region asked the federal government to intervene. It has been called a war unleashed personally by Abiy against the Amhara people ever since. It saddens me to my core to see the noble of Amhara being dragged thru the mud of stupid conflict designed and unleashed by bigots and vagabonds. It is now common to hear innocent junior civil servants being callously murdered by thugs from the bushes because they are easy targets. It is the same in the Oromia region. They call that putting out of action or annihilation of the enemy. Very unfortunate and sad indeed.
I just received a copy of the economic agreement signed between Wedi Afo of Abruzzi and Debre of Dedebit. Debre was dismayed by the sight of thousands of his young men leaving his region on a dangerous journey across the Red Sea when there are millions of job openings next door. So he travelled to Piccola Roma to ask Wedi Afo to allow the unemployed into Abruzzi. All Al-Toweel Wedi-Afo has to do is turn his face towards Debre land and shout ‘Hammaal, hammal, coolie, coolie’. He has been in dire need of beasts of burden since 2018 because all the G7’s, the ONLF’s, OLF and others whose names are hard to pronounce hammals had left Piccola Roma. So, here he goes! Coolie, coolie, coolie!!!! No experience is required. Hammaal! Hammaal! Hammaal!!! Debre was heard calling Wedi Afo ‘Master Isu’. This agreement will open the port of Assab for Debre and his hammals wide open. You clueless Amharas and Oromos! Eat your hearts out! This is how you do it to get a seaport. Na, na, na nah!!!
