Toronto – The Trump Administration on Wednesday announced that it “Champions Free Expression, ” and “Censorship Frameworks ceases to exist.
The administration announced in a statement released via the State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson, Tommy Pigott.
“The United States has ceased all Frameworks to Counter Foreign State Information Manipulation and any associated instruments implemented by the former administration,” read the statement.
The announcement is based on Maro Rubio’s decision from April this year to close “the Department’s Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (R/FIMI) Hub.” It used to be referred to as “Global Engagement Center (GEC),” as well.
The Framework was intruded by the previous administration with the aim to counter “disinformation.” The Trump administration tends to think that it was used for a different purpose ; “for political censorship” rather than protecting U.S. Citizens.
Based on the press release from the state department, the action to do away with “censorship framework” reflects President Donald Trump’s executive order from January to restore “Freedom of Speech and Ending Federal Censorship, which prohibits federal censorship and promotes freedom of expression,” it said.
