Toronto – Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Wednesday claimed that they shot down an Ethiopian government drone.

Citizens reported on social media that SAF said the drone was shot down  in Kordofan, inside the Sudan border. They allege that the drones were flying from Ethiopia.

A video footage of a man in SAF uniform purportedly showing the shot down drone in flames is circulating on social media.  It is said to be a Turkish made Bayraktar drone.

The news is not independently verified. The video is available here

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not remarked about it.

There has been allegation from the government of Sudan that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government – a close ally of United Arab Emirates – is supporting the rebels forces in Sudan.

Sudanese news sources reported in late February that Sudanese rebel forces intensified drone attacks in the parts of Sudan that borders Ethiopia.

The Government evacuated civilians from the town of Kurmuk among others. The Sudanese rebels are armed with drones which are allegedly supplied by the United Arab Emirates.

  1. The video could be authentic or AI generated. It could be true due to for the fact that some dumb operator let the drone go astray into the Sudanese territory at vulnerable elevation. Please note that the leaders of both factions that brought down their country of Sudan into unimaginable bloody war are now designated as terrorists by the West. They are both sickly desperate to garner some sort of sympathy from anyone. But if it was true, it would not be the first time a drone operated by the ENDF that went north instead of south and hit its own military camp. We have read stories drones hitting military camps and killing numerous soldiers.

That reminds me to appreciate the degree how the late Emperor used to train his soldiers including the air force. There is one story an Issa Somali friend told me about his experience during the 1977-78 war between Ethiopia and Somalia. The pilots flying the Ethiopian fighter jets who were trained during the time of the late Emperor were the most feared in the enemy arsenal. It did not take a week for the Ethiopian air force to clear the skies of the Somali military jets and claim air superiority. Their ground attacks were so accurate that sent the Somali army running for its life in all directions. He told me one particular Ethiopian fighter jet that was so feared by the invading soldiers that they named it ‘Aisha Walan’ in Somal which means ‘Aisha the Crazy’. All those pilots were trained here in USA just before commies overthrew the Emperor and have been waiting for their beloved F5 fighter jets to arrive. Then it was an easy pick for them with their well trained eyes. But these days it could be a different story. That is why I won’t be surprised if this video is authentic or AI generated for that matter.
