I am writing this among others in appreciation of BRICS, the warm words President Putin has spoken about Ethiopia and for wishing us a Happy New Year at the Summit in Delhi. Incidentally one can imagine the Presidential assistants raising brows and wondering ‘how come they are celebrating Rosh Hashanah being Orthodox Christians and all?’ before slipping the note to President Putin to wish us good. We, Ethiopians, are one of a kind, aren’t we? We are almost as confounding as Russia itself-you know ‘a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma’ as Churchill had put it.
Dying at the bidding and for the Pleasure of the West
You gotta give it to the Ukrainian soldiers. Though it lacerates my heart to admit it that is God’s honest truth, they are going on the fifth year now since the Special Military Operation was launched by the Russian Federation. The latter cannot in good faith contend that it is winning the war-as planned. It isn’t. We all assumed Russia would repeat what it had done in Georgia and everything would be settled and fixed as in the case of South Ossetia. It was anything but.
I know on top of fighting a massive hybrid war against the combined force of the West, Russia is also holding out against the unreserved arms and resources generously supplied by 32+countries to break it using Ukraine as a naked weapon. Actually Russia has been holding out against the West alright- at the very least beginning from the Russo-Lithuania war for the past six hundred years under changing pretexts.
One thing is for sure. From Western perspective there is always a reason to fight Russia. It is the eternal enemy of the West. When I was a kid I had read Daphne du Maurier’s novella titled the Birds and I remember being very much intrigued by Jill’s father’s offhand casual remark that the Russians must have poisoned the birds. I was like ‘why would the Russians poison innocent seabirds? How come all sorts of bad things are ascribed to Russia?’ Decades later when I read Western media outlets in relation to the war in Ukraine I still feel that kinda marked prejudice. The way they report military targets, one would think half Ukraine is kindergartens and maternity ward hospitals while all of Russia is military industrial complex.
The way they shamelessly celebrate the death of Russians makes the rest of the world wonder ‘what are we missing here?’ These past five years they have been gleefully and shamelessly publishing fake Russian casualties of war in millions. When it comes to ‘Russian news’ journalistic ethics and evidence based reporting are kept on hold.
So I can understand the West’s enduring project to break up Russia into ten or more satellite Banana Republics willing and liable to carry out errands. What beats me is the actual cause the Ukrainians are dying for. I mean unless they are holding out bravely in a spirit of medieval chivalry for the pleasure of a bunch of Brussels hags and wenches. Speaking of teasing, surely Kaja Kallas is still in her prime and she surely fits the role of Dulcinea Del Toboso. She is never tired of lauding and celebrating the ‘bravery of the Ukrainian soldiers and people’ and- I wouldn’t say gullible but- the disoriented soldiers go out and die like flies to the hands of their kith and kin.
Mama Ursula hates Russia unapologetically and the matriarch of the EU would give anything to see it gutted inside out. As it is she is sizzling with rage Belgium’s Euroclear wouldn’t confiscate the 200 billion euro Russian sovereign asset and release it to Ukraine. But that hasn’t prevented her from bankrolling a shameless Russia Cancel campaign reminiscent of Nazi Germany’s book burning festivals in the prelude to the Second World War.
Today in the third decade of the 21th century, statutes of Pushkin and Catherine the Great are being knocked down of all places in Odessa-a Russian speaking City and Europe is egging the authorities on to complete the Russia cancel campaign with a ban on the Russian language itself.
The hypocrisy of the European Union knows no limit! These very people are always on their high pedestals trying to lecture Africa about freedom and equality. If you ask me when you remove the façade Europe is as dark as Africa if not worse.
The Die is already cast
Time after time it has been reported that body bags are verifiable casualties of war and Russia is always willing to trade the body of one of its fallen soldiers for as many as ten Ukrainian ones. Russia to this day dubs the war Special Military Operation and not actual war per se. It wouldn’t declare mobilization and in as much as possible tries to avoid using the term war to characterize the conflict. On the other hand Ukraine has mobilized all able bodied men between 25 and 60 years old. I believe the bar has been reduced to 18 years since. Now Europe is cajoling the country to begin recruiting females for active combat duties.
No one says anything about the fate of those Ukrainian men between the age of 25 and 60 who have been rounded up, made to do drills for a few weeks and sent to the meat grinder just like that. They are almost all gone. So much so that now on top of the sizable mercenary fleet Europe is toying with the idea of ‘committing boots on the ground’. In the face of all these palpable state of affairs Western media tries to give us estimated Russian casualties going as many as 1.5 million and that of Ukraine in just five digits.
What I miss in all this propaganda is how the West fails to understand that inflating Russian battle loss would only make it exact commensurate rewards. What Nation would back down from a cause after losing 1.4 million of its best sons and daughters for the purpose? I mean even if a tenth of the figures quoted is true? It unequivocally proves that the Die is already cast and a point of no return is reached.
Thus the way I see it, the more Russian soldiers die the deeper the Ukraine sinks and Europe isn’t going to save it. As a matter of fact I would like to see how European NATO soldiers fare in the actual battle field. If only for the spectacle I wish Russia were to take knocking off the Polish-Ukrainian train to further stage and slap around the noisy Baltic chicks a little.
BRICS to the Rescue
Change is inevitable. It is the law of nature. Even celestial stars die. Nothing stays permanent. The EU of the 90s- 2000s has lost its appeal and lure. After Brit exit, the phrase has become commonplace from Budapest to Paris, as recently as 29 August 2026 the people of Iceland have voted against resuming negotiation to join the EU. The idea of joining the EU no longer appeals even to Turkey, who had camped at the gate of Europe for decades giving its back to its true place in the Middle East and Asia. The EU’s essence is gradually being sapped and the dynamics of its ideals is being corroded day after day.
Around the horizon a new star is born and shining bright. Look, in just twenty years BRICS has incorporated 40% of the global GDP. Forget GDP the bloc has absorbed Nations with educated young people who are ultimately the true Wealth of a Nation accounting more than 49% of the global population. On the contrary, Europe is greying fast and it has fallen victim to reverse-colonization and MAGA isn’t totally wrong to assume that in just a few years’ time it would be overwhelmed and consumed by immigration.
One cannot but admire the strategic game the Russians had played when it comes to the economy. Who would have thought the Russian economy would survive half a year with all the 30,000+sanction and restrictions slapped on it by the West? To the chagrin of Western pundits the Russian economy instead of slipping into recession registered continuous growth and proved the impotency of the West’s singular leverage and bullying weapon-sanction.
They tried to use that infamous despicable disgrace to International law and order a.k.a. ICC to intimidate President Putin; they assumed he would be holed up in the Kremlin and wouldn’t be able to travel around the World. In all his quarter of a century rules I don’t think he has travelled as much as he did these past four years. God knows the old world is dying. I am ever so glad we are in the BRICS.
European Commission State of the Union Address
I believe on Wednesday( 16 September 2026) Mama Ursula, President of the European Commission, is set to deliver the State of the Union Address to the Parliament of the European Union. She is sure to declare the EU is in Close and Immediate Danger high lighting multiple incidents not excepting the blowing up of the Train destined to Poland from the Ukraine. Again she is sure to end up begging Europe to pour more money, confiscate more Russian assets, impose more sanctions and commit unlimited resources to her brave little soldiers fighting to save European civilization from the ‘savage Russians’.
