TORONTO, Canada – Prominent Ethiopian Politician Lidetu Ayalew, who is currently in the United States after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government denied him reentry to the country, expresses optimism on the stature of the newly formed alliance of seven armed groups – Alliance For Survival.
In his latest interview with Anchor Media, he shared a positivist review of the coalition while pointing out areas that need to be clarified or figured out like the command structure and structures through which the ideals of the new coalition could be implemented.
His remark came a week after a military escalation in North Ethiopia in what appears to be a response to the formation of the coalition. The Ethiopian Defense Force is in control of Mekelle, seat of the Tigray regional state, following TPLF’s forces “strategic retreat” further north without out fighting for the city.
