Ethiopia, Addis Ababa – Israeli Ambassador to Ethiopia, Avraham Neguise, was expelled from an African Union (AU) conference in Addis Ababa on Monday that commemorated the 1994 Rwandan genocide, after several member states reportedly refused to attend if he remained.
The incident took place during an annual memorial event held at the AU Headquarters, where Neguise—who has served as ambassador since August 2024—was officially invited. The Israeli Foreign Ministry sharply criticized the move, condemning AU Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Youssouf of Djibouti for politicizing the event.
“It is outrageous that at an event commemorating the victims of the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda, to which the Israeli ambassador in Addis Ababa was invited, [Youssouf] chose to introduce anti-Israel political elements,” said the ministry. “This unacceptable conduct dishonors the memory of the victims and shows a deep misunderstanding of the histories of both the Rwandan and Jewish peoples.”
The ministry added that Israel would take “necessary diplomatic steps” in response.

This is an abhorrent move by the AU. It is a bona fide Anti-Semitic. I hope the old country is not part of this bigoted behavior. They allow Arabs who have been calling the ‘AB’s’, niggers for centuries and kick out a Hebrew. Dumb bigots!!

Brother Ambassador Avraham was born in Ethiopia which he never forgot. Bigots at this AU conference had kicked out a black man with an Ethiopian heritage. The only thing that was missing was they were not doing that repulsive Nazi salute. I’m very disappointed by the action of the Au Commission Chairperson and those who collaborated. Bigots, bigots!!!!
