Tsadkan Gebretensae Says Ethiopian Gov’t Should Recall Tadesse Worede

Tsemdo does not have a support from the people in Tigray region of Ethiopia, he seems to remark

Toronto – Former Ethiopian Defense Chief of Staff and one of the top TPLF figures, Tsadkan Grebretensae, reappeared in the opposition political space in Ethiopia.

In his latest interview, with NBC Ethiopia, he discussed at length about the new political movement (Tigray Reformers Movement) goals, strategies and the political crisis that Tigray is facing. He is among the founders.  It is moving towards “an inclusive system in the region” which ultimately leads to elections to restore Federal level representation in all its forms. The TPLF seems to see, as has been the case throughout its thirty plus years of domination, a movement for an inclusive system as an “existential threat, and General Tsadkan has confirmed that is the case right now.

The movement seeks to achieve a civil-disobedience in the region against the TPLF. On the other hand it sees implementation of the Pretoria Agreement as a key factor in the restoration of constitutional order in  the region.

One of the key issues he remarked about was the new alliance – Tsemdo – between TPLF (Debretsion led faction of it) and Eritrea, which he referred to as “Sabia.”

According to him, people in the Tigray region of Ethiopia do not support Tsemdo. He added that the TPLF leaders recently organized public meetings at zone and district level and people have openly told them that they “do not want war!)

“The people of Tigray do not need war. How dare you reconcile with Isaias [ Eritrean government ] who slaughtered us while you refuse to reconcile with your brothers,” is the message that people told TPLF leaders, according to Tsadkan Gebretense.

There have been allegations of widespread human rights abuse by the Eritrean government during the bloody two years war in Tigray and neighboring areas  between 2020 and 2022. Tsadkan went further to make claims that a study conducted during the Interim Tigray Administration, under Getachew Reda, over 70 percent of the rights violation including extrajudicial killings in the region during the war was committed by Eritrean troops. Eritrea has been denying the allegations.

Tsadkan also highlighted the genesis of Tsemdo (TPLF-Eritrea alliance). He indicated that he was consulted about it long before it happened and it was packaged as a “strategy to recover western Tigray.”  Those who are behind it advanced the view that the Federal government will not return Western Tigray ( Wolkait and Tegede) and that alliance with Eritrea was framed as a strategic move to recover the lands.

Tsadkan, by implication the new movement to which he is a founding member), sees the alliance with Eritrea as a cover to escape crimes including corruption committed when key TPLF leaders who are behind it were in power.  The alliance is now at its height and was advanced, as he puts it,  under the cover of people-to-people relations.

For him, the idea of going to war in alliance with Eritrea, against Ethiopia, is a “slippery downhill way from which there is no way out.”

Furthermore, he pointed out that people in the Tigray region of Ethiopia are firmly standing on two positions in relation to the TPLF. The first one is “No more war.”  People across the region are overwhelmingly saying they can not afford to have another war. The other ground is that the TPLF can no longer rule the region the way it used to without the formation of an inclusive system.

70 to 80 percent of the Tadesse Worede-led Interim Administration is staffed with TPLF cadres, General Tsadkan added.

The image he painted about Tigray under Tadesse Worede is grim. “We are saying that the Federal government should recall Tadesse Worede,”  he said.

He says that Tadesse Worede has not accomplished any of the eight points he agreed to, in front of the international community, when he was appointed in April this year.

Return of displaced people to their places is not yet implemented and that Tadesse has not also stopped certain groups’ relations with foreign powers (a reference to Eritrea).

Tsadkan also alleged that Tadesse Worede was behind the creeping coup d’etat that removed Getachew Reda’s Interim Administration, to which Tsadkan was a part.  He even questions why the Federal government even rewarded him.

Tsadkan is currently in Addis Ababa on grounds of security concern. He alleges that the Tigray region has become a dangerous place. Eritrean assassins are freely operating in the region, he alleges.

Meanwhile, the TPLF this week has issued a statement officially calling for alliance with Eritrea. No official response yet. On the other hand the Ethiopian government has lodged another complaint to the United Nations this week alleging that the Eritrean government and TPLF are attacking Ethiopia. It alleges that they are supporting Fano forces. However, Fano forces have dismissed it as a “lie.”

  1. Nothing makes me happier that TPLF cancers blaming and fighting each other. Yehe yegeta sera naw, Enem teseye neber, Weyanen awardeh asayegn beyew neber legeta, yehew, yehew selete dersual lol The king dismantled and played these old gangs like a babay…. Leba hula

  2. Forget about what this general said. I just returned from a hasty trip to Addis/Finfinne. I had to teleport myself due to an emergency situation. When I got there the city was surrounded by the mighty army of my longtime hommies Yemane and Al-Toweel Isu. They were not the ones doing the actual fighting. They were there as planners and leaders of the action. Fanos in a united front with the TPLF soldiers were the ones doing the fighting. It took 100 soldiers of Yemane and Al-Toweel only 2 hours to reach Addis/Finfinne from their border. Both Abiy and Jula have fled the country. Abiy is now living in an abandoned old factory building in DC and working as a parking lot attendant. Jula is now in Seattle living in the streets and working as a hammaal(porter) at a Greyhound bus stop. Ethiopia, you’re toast, glazed and gobbled up already. I told you a million times not t start with my home boys Yemane and Al-Toweel Isu. All these two needed was loyal beasts of burden and they’ve found the best ones in Fanos, Debre’s TPLF and the dread-locked Rastaman wandering in the wilds of Western Oromia. I told you not to rattle the cage but you did not heed my advice. Now it is too late for you. You’re gone for good. You never existed anyway. Good bye!!! Excuse me for now. I am teleporting myself to Piccola Roma to have the first dibs of the reinvented lasagna with my Black Italian buddies Yemane and Al-Toweel Isu. See ya!!!!

    • No one even reads your nonsense any more….
I appreciate your commitment to be a (paid?) troll. It amazes me that someone spends so much time to write absolute nonsense for years:)))
Koodos to you Sir, keep the hard work, your reward is coming soon!
