Toronto –  Fano forces in North Wollo claim a major victory against government forces. They claim that they have captured 200 government forces.

Video footage released in the past few days and circulating on social media platforms purportedly shows hundreds of government forces paraded putting their hands up in the air in a place near a mountain hill area.

Ethiopian Media Services (EMS) has published the video footage in its news coverage on Saturday.

Reda Wubetu, one of the leaders of Wollo Fano forces under Mere Wodajo, has confirmed the news.

They were reportedly captured following days of intense fighting between Fano forces and government soldiers in several locations close to Woldia town.

It has been over three weeks now since the government declared what it called “final operation” against Fano forces in the Amhara region. Mechanized units and the air force have been mobilized and deployed. An additional 40,000 government forces have been deployed in the latest rounds of the operation.

Fano forces have been hailed for their captive handling practices.

According to the EMS report, many of the captives (the number is unspecified) have declared allegiance with Fano forces and have expressed interest to fight against Abiy Ahmed’s government forces.

Similarly Fano forces in Gojjam and Gonder have been releasing video footage recently purportedly showing captured government forces. At one point they have been calling for the Red Cross and other aid agencies “to accept the captives” as the cost of feeding them becomes a burden to the little resources that Fano has at its disposal.

  1. Here you have it! The latest report of Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) just came out. Eritrea is not on the list. You know why? That is because it has no poverty at all. All its citizens earn income that puts them well above the poverty line. Its GDP is above Singapore and Monaco. These more than 250,000 refugees in camps in Ethiopia who claim to be from Eritrea are not true Eritreans. They are Tigres, Oromos and Amharas. Bravo Eritrea, bravo, bravo, bravo!!!!

    ABIY AHMED STEP DOWN NOW!!

  3. I just read a story about the summit of countries in the so-called BRICS group. How come Eritrea and Somalia were not invited? Eritrea has the highest GDP(PPP) in Africa and 2nd highest in the world just below Singapore. Somalia is the most powerful and industrialized country in Somalia itself. How dare you Putin? Eritrea was the one that emancipated Ethiopia from fascism in 1896 and 1941. Eritrea was the one that taught Ethiopia how to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Eritrea was the one that taught Ethiopia even how to talk and write by inventing the Amhara and Oromo languages. I’m gonna go there to Kazan and picket in front of the summit hall demanding the inclusion of Eritrea and Somalia and my homeboy el-Sisi will back me up on that one.
