Borkena, Toronto – The European Union on Saturday released a brief statement expressing concern about what it described as a “tense situation” in Northern Ethiopia.
It is for a second time for the EU to release a statement regarding the development in Ethiopia in less than two months.
The latest statement made reference to breaches of the Pretoria Agreement highlighting the actions the TPLF has been taking including forced conscription. It urged for AU-led talks on the “concrete” implementation of the agreement.
The Ethiopian federal government and the TPLF have not remarked on the EU’s statement at the time of this writing.
The brief statement from the EU reads as follows :
“Concerned about the tense situation in northern Ethiopia incl. the recent actions taken by TPLF to establish a parallel regional council, and to unilaterally enforce military conscriptions in Tigray, which breaches the stipulations of the 2022 Pretoria Permanent Cessation of Hostilities Agreement(CoHA).
A resumption of talks on the concrete implementation of CoHA by all sides is urgent. We fully support the mediation efforts led by the AU’s High Representative President Obassanjo to achieve peace and stability”

Most of the two years war was fought in the Amhara region, and since then this region have been a battlefield between the government which wants to disarm the population and the people or the FANO who refused to disarm while the trait from both TPLF and OLF is looming over them. And our European friends are talking only about TPLF . All Ethiopians should stop ask what is special about TPLF?
The answer is simple , TPLF supported and implemented the colonial design of dividing Ethiopia into ethnic regions and individually disintegrating it
I second(all of us should do the same) EU’s call for political dialogue and all cessations of hostilities by the leaders in Tigray and those at Arat Kilo. If this call is ignored and destructive war erupts again in that region, leaders of both sides should be held responsible and more so Debre and his entourage. There isn’t a single issue that can not be addressed and solved through honest political dialogue. None!
The ICC At The Hague should take a note of this and charge Debre and his entourage with crimes to wage war. This mobilization of the youth and every able person is not to protect those noble people of Tigray but it is meant to serve as human shields for Debre and his goons.
