Toronto – The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has reportedly offered Tadesse Worede, President of Tigray Interim Administration whose terms in office was extended last week, two conditions or face a military measure.
Sources with links to the region on Saturday reported that one of the conditions he is offered is to coordinate with the TPLF and “continue the struggle” (against the Federal government).
The second option is, according to the report, to resign “peacefully” with the right to live in Mekelle or with an arrangement to emigrate to a country of his choice. No further explanation is provided as to how TPLF can arrange an Immigration based on Tadesse’s choice.
The last option is, if he rejects the above two, to face a military measure.
According to the source, the organization is making arrangements to tender the decision to Tadesse via elders, religious leaders and politicians.
Borkena was unable to verify the report independently from sources in the region.
What is known so far is that the TPLF has officially rejected the extension of Tadesse Worede’s terms as president of the interim administration asserting that the Federal government does not have authority to take a unilateral action on it. The latter told the BBC Amharic service that the extension is legal and constitutional.
In an apparent response to it, the TPLF this week abrogated the Pretoria Agreement which ended the two years bloody war against the Federal government. It was signed in November 2022.
Tadesse has also rejected the TPLF’s opposition to the extension of his terms. There are also reports Tadesse vowed not to leave the Tigray region for fear of possible military action from the TPLF.
Tadesse’s term was extended last week after an evaluative meeting with the Federal authorities on the performance of his government the result of which is not announced to the public.
The Federal government has not yet remarked on the situation developing in Tigray after his appointment which seems to suggest a renewed conflict.

The patience of the regional power Tigray concerning the regime of Abiy Ahmed is beyong a diplomatic gesture. It can depose the regime with its swift and effective military action and secure its interests in Ethiopia. Consequent evaluations show that the withdrawal of Tigray forces from Ethiopia in 2023 was wrong.
It seems that Brother General Tadesse understands very well from first hand experience that what violence begets is more violence. He is trying the best he can to avoid that. We should stand in unison behind him in his grueling effort. Those upright and noble people of Tigray have been longing for peace since 1975. They deserve and are entitled to it.
These groups that came to existence beginning the 1960’s were put together by violent means and most still entertaining violence. OLF, ONLF, EPRP, TPLF, MEISONE and SLF all had their founders committed communists hell bent on violent means of struggle. Some of these as of late have been telling us that they have abandoned going to the bushes and wage armed struggle. Then they threaten to go back to their original school and wage war. It seems they have taken themselves out of the wilderness but they somehow are having fits to take violence out of their tainted mind frame. Just look what TPLF is threatening those noble people of Tigray. It is my way or the Dedebit way. You think COVID-19 of 2019-2022 is calamity of historical proportion but the disease it is afflicted with is COVID-19 on steroid. What a predicament!!!!
There is a stark example how that demonic philosophy of Marxism/Leninism still stays in the bloodstream of some among us in article posted on Addis Standard. The addict was complaining about the current corridor projects in the capital which he is entitled to his opinion. But he uses a term that was the staple of Marxist groups and individuals among us going back to the 1960’s. He accuses a class of people he calls ‘comprador bourgeoisie’. His mentors used that term to demonize those who were involved in the import and export business. If you sold coffee to a foreign company then you were agents of ‘imperialism. I was shocked to see this term is being to accuse innocent citizens in year 2026. Aren’t there others here among us who refer to their idol by reminding us with phrases like ‘as Marx said’ or ‘as Lenin wrote’? It is an infection with no available antibiotics to fight it off or heal it. Boy, do I have utter contempt for communists and leftist radicals or what!!!!
