Toronto – A day after the Ethiopian President shared on X page a deeply emotional feeling that made silent for more than a year, Ethiopian news sources are reporting that she will not continue for the second term. Her term will be ending this month.
With the news dominating the conversation on social media, the ruling party’s “media army”, as revealed by a recent Reuters report, is attacking her. The ruling party claims to have over 14 million members.
The “media army” that is said to have been given the mission to misinform, disinform and distort information through online presence and social media engagement is attacking the president as “pro-Fano.” Fano is the armed group that is resisting government forces deployed in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
Meseret Media reported that the president did not have a healthy working relationship with government executives. According to sources, she is expected to notify the executive about her decision not to continue in the position.
Sahle-Work, who has been serving Ethiopia in various ambassadorial positions for over three decades, has been openly criticizing the government over the ongoing war, and calling for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in the Amhara region.
