TORONTO, Canada — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed acknowledged on Sunday that the country’s security situation has reached a point where people are unable to move freely for work, nearly three years after his government launched a military operation in the Amhara region aimed at disarming Fano forces.
He made the remarks during the inauguration of Debre Markos Airport, officially named Negus Tekle Haymanot Airport, in Ethiopia’s Amhara region. The airport project was completed about a month ago.
Mr. Abiy described the restrictions on freedom of movement caused by the security situation as “questionable, disgusting and inappropriate.”
It has been nearly three years since his government launched what it described as a “military operation” in the region after declaring a state of emergency in August 2023. The operation evolved into a full-scale war involving mechanized units and extensive drone strikes.
The stated objective of the military operation was to disarm Fano forces, a mission that has yet to be accomplished. Instead, the conflict has continued into its third year, with the rebel movement appearing to have expanded its military capability during the fighting.
The Fano forces have repeatedly imposed restrictions on movement—while exempting emergency services—over the past three years, saying the measures were intended to disrupt Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) operations aimed at weakening or eliminating the group. The restrictions have typically lasted from several days to a week.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed flew to Debre Markos in the Gojjam area for the inauguration ceremony. Much of Gojjam remains , as is the case with other parts of Amhara region, under the control of Fano forces despite recent claims by the ENDF that it had killed several hundred “extremists,” as it refers to the rebels. The Fano forces, for their part, claimed to have killed senior ENDF officials during the Dega Damot operation late last month.
During his speech, Abiy referred to a well-known local saying associated with Debre Markos: “Why don’t you come to Markos, the city of Tedla? Come by airplane if you wish, or by lonchina if you prefer.” The expression carries a double meaning. While tedla literally means “delight” in Amharic, it also alludes to Tedla Guallu, the prominent governor of Gojjam in the late 19th century before Negus Tekle Haymanot. Likewise, lonchina originally referred to a popular means of road transportation to the city but was used by the prime minister to refer more broadly to travel by road.
The prime minister suggested that the demand for air transportation had now been addressed. The new airport becomes Ethiopian Airlines’ 25th domestic destination.
However, he continued, reaching the city by road—using “lonchina” to mean vehicle travel—has become difficult because of the security situation. “With our effort, the service has to be restored,” he said, referring to road transportation.
Passengers traveling between Gojjam and Addis Ababa have faced recurring kidnappings near the Gohatsion-Ali Doro area. The government has linked the incidents to what it calls “Shane,” its designation for the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA). Abiy also referred to the incidents during his speech.
He said “the door is open for talks,” calling for “peaceful negotiations on points of difference.” However, his government has been insisting that armed groups lay down their weapons as a precondition for negotiations.
The Fano forces say their armed struggle is aimed at reversing what they describe as existential threats facing the Amhara people. Before Fano emerged as an organized armed movement, there had been recurring reports of large-scale attacks and massacres targeting ethnic Amhara farming communities in Ethiopia’s Benishangul-Gumuz and Oromia regions.
At the time of publication, the Fano forces had not issued an official response to the prime minister’s speech in Debre Markos, including his call for negotiations.

However, the wars in Gaza ( Israel to take the LAND) and now the war in Iran (where US is attempting to take Iran’s Oil (as he did Venezuela’s Oil months earlier) is in full display… what these wars ( and all the wars before our time and in our life times ) have been about TAKING OVER SOMEONE ELSE’S RESOURCES human-solders… and they were brutal… Now in the age of AI & Robotics ( senseless machines) playing the OLD GAME using the NEW TOOLS is becoming horrifyingly CLEAR.
As Abiy’s becoming a PM was not known to anyone in 2017 & the horror that followed for the last 8 years (for those affected). And he still is having difficulty seeing what is going on during his ‘leadership’ as well as not knowing as to what is coming and is playing games with his own people, but when the resource seekers TERMINATOR (ROBOT Solders) come, there is no ‘prerequisites’ or ultimatums to read to them.
The Machines will clear the land off all with no qualms. That is if the Predator nations got the lead on this technology before anyone else, we (at least some of us) know what is yet to come (based on their past & present activities in these regard…).

So, fools are fools, they play stupid games ( for 50 + years), while irreversible things are happening elsewhere, maybe that is why this is all had to happen for the last 50 years in this way , Nature playing its own games ( just to see how it will all turn out, after all CREATION is a temporary EXPERIMENT ).
The flip side could be the best time to be alive, where these tools assist humanity ( take the day to day burdens of WORK) to FREE itself and do other things he/she weren’t able to do taking care of SURVIVAL. The free time will help humanity explore what it means to a ‘human-being’…
Here is the thing, for those who are prepared and have taken the path o& done the later ( meaning they know, they are Eternal ) none of the outcomes are a concern, but an experience ( as life it self is a EXPERIENCE in MATTER (in the PHYSICAL WORLD).
For the Eternal covered in matter (for the time being), ‘nothing’ matters; ‘It is just a PLAY’.
I read church memberships have been growing in the last few years, knowing is the way, but ‘faith’ might help.
At the end, there is nothing to fear, but fear itself (which doesn’t exist).

The youth of Ethiopia is so unfortunate that he is being mistreated both inside the country and the Arabian Peninsula. Tubby lard Wahhabi human blood addicts in Saudi Arabia have lined up thousands of Ethiopian young migrants to butcher them in their filthy jails.
This mistreatment of Ethiopian and African immigrants by the Wahhabis does not come to me as a surprise to me. They have been slaughtering Ethiopians and other Africans for more than 2 millennia. We all know that they were the spear headers of the slave trade predating the Portuguese and Spanish by at least a thousand years. The estimate is that there were 3,000 Africans hauled away by the Wahhabi slave traders off the East African coast every year for at least 1,500 years. That is roughly about 4.5 million human beings taken as slaves to the Arabian Peninsula. On the other side of Africa it is estimated that close to 12.5 million Africans were shipped to the New World Americas with 2.5 million of them dying during the horrible voyage. Those 10 million slaves who survived the agonizing trip have now descendants numbering more than 140 million living in almost every Island in the Caribbean, North, Central and South America. So what have the Wahhabi slave mongers done to the descendants of those 4.5 million African human beings? Where are my people? This includes Egypt, Iran, Syria and Iraq. You have to live among them taken as one of them to get clues to what they might have done to the defenseless African slaves. Nuff said for me now.
