Toronto – The Ethiopian Defense Force calls the report about the crashed helicopter as the work of enemy forces and propaganda. It linked Airport closure to Air Force drill.
“There is no helicopter that crashed or ran into a problem,” the Ethiopian Defense Force stated on Sunday in response to reports of a helicopter crash in Bahir Dar last Saturday.
The Defense Force further clarified, “One of the bases of the Ethiopian Air Force is our western force in Bahir Dar. Due to our Air Force drill yesterday [Saturday], regular airline flights [Ethiopian Airlines] were suspended for some time.”
Reports on Saturday indicated that Ethiopian Airlines’ scheduled flights to Bahir Dar were temporarily halted. However, the Defense Force’s statement does not explain why passenger flights were planned if an air force drill was already scheduled in the city.
The Defense Force did acknowledge the inconvenience caused to Ethiopian Airlines passengers.
Meanwhile, a video that surfaced on social media on Tuesday purportedly shows a helicopter being transported on a large truck to an unspecified location.
The Ethiopian Defense Force dismissed claims of a helicopter crash, describing them as enemy propaganda.
“What we are likely witnessing is the enemy’s propaganda efforts to fabricate a crisis and spread misinformation. Other than that, we want to reiterate that no helicopter has crashed or encountered any issues,” the Defense Force stated.
Borkena initially reported the alleged helicopter crash last Friday, citing sources linked to the region.

No, it was not a helicopter you saw crashing down. It was an endemic tiger butterfly that is as big as a cow. Everyone is familiar about the butterfly since it is a very common sight around Lake Tana. I used to ride them everyday to school. I have the video of the monster butterfly crashing down right here in my hand. You can see the incidence in the video I have posted on YouTube. You guys are being just so silly.
For me, it is just the excitement of these backward Ethiopians who smiles when the country loses or go through some hard time. How come someone tricked into hating it’s our country? what kind of ERGEMAN these people got. No helicopter crash, but some people were happy to hear the fake news all over social media. Egzeeooooo!!!! Gobez betwedum batwedum bekum motenal. Edeyaaaa
