Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest and most awarded airline, has announced the celebration of its 50th anniversary of service to Kigali, Rwanda. The airline first launched its Addis Ababa–Kigali route in 1975, and over the decades has grown to become a critical connector between the two nations.

“We are excited to reach such a milestone,” said Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.

He added “Over 50 years of service to Kigali, we have expanded both our passenger and cargo operations, with increased frequencies for the benefit of our customers. This marks another demonstration of Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to serving the people of Africa.”

Ethiopian currently operates 21 weekly passenger flights and three dedicated cargo services between Addis Ababa and Kigali. The route connects travelers and businesses in Rwanda to the airline’s global network of more than 145 destinations across five continents.

As Africa’s largest network operator, Ethiopian Airlines continues to play a strategic role in enhancing intra-African connectivity. The airline’s expanding services are helping bridge economic hubs and fostering regional integration, trade, and tourism across the continent.

Beyond Africa, Ethiopian Airlines offers flights to major destinations in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East, reinforcing its role as a bridge between Africa and the rest of the world.

  1. Rwandans are weird people. I’ve had multiple Tutsis tell me how they are more Ethiopian than our Southern region. Every time I asked how that is possible, they each gave some disillusioned reason. I don’t like them. Allegedly, most of the guys try in anyway they can to marry our girls. They are just the typical African.
