Toronto – Ethiopian Airlines CEO, Mesfin Tassew, says two Midnight aircraft ( Electric Aeroplanes) will be delivered next year, according to a TIKVAH Ethiopia report.
It was on March 27, 2025 the Ethiopian Airlines reached an agreement with Archer Aviation to get the plane in a deal that is said to cost about $30 million. The Airlines is the second to enter into agreement with the company to deploy the electric Aeroplanes.
There seems to be an even bigger plan. At the time Archer Aviation disclosed “The companies will work together to over time build an air taxi network in the region, with Archer planning to provide Ethiopian Airlines with a team of pilots, technicians, and engineers to support the initial deployment of these early launch edition Midnight aircraft in Ethiopia.”
Mesfin is cited as saying the two planes are primarily intended for tourism activity. The aircrafts are used for short distances for a round trip within a range of 20-50 miles, according to Archer Aviation.
The aircrafts cut an hour and half drive distance to a ten minutes flight.
Last month, the airline announced that it has acquired two Twin Otter Classic 300-G Aircrafts, from De Havilland Canada, for domestic flights with tourist destinations.
In a related development, Ethiopian Airlines has reportedly started the construction of about 2500 houses for families who gave up their land for the Airlines’s mega airport project about 44 kilometers south east of Addis Ababa. The New project is expected to cost over $5 billion and is expected to serve more than 60 million passengers a year.

I just came back from a trip, you can tell people are very tense in terminals before boarding, close their eyes during takeoff, and during approach and landing… considering the Air India crash being fresh in peoples minds… Only kids are total oblivious, with no care in the world, just being kids.

There is one airline that never gets tired of being called the ‘first one’ in all goodies and it is the glorious Ethiopian Airlines(EAL) The first ‘passenger jet plane, 737, 747, 787 in Africa’ on and on. That shouldn’t come as a surprise knowing the fact that the airline is being run by geniuses from top to bottom. Yes, you heard me right; geniuses from top to bottom. I know that could become so vexing for bigots and conniving demons. Stop writing and selling ‘memoirs’ and jump in the deep ends of a nearby lake.
