TORONTO, Canada — Attacks on ethnic Amhara’s living in rural areas in Wollega, Oromia region of Ethiopia is reportedly worsening.
Anchor Media aired video footage of armed groups burning homes. Gida Ayana, Guten and Kiremu areas are most affected. According to the report, the regional state security forces are involved in the attack.
Thousands are trapped in the jungles fearing for their lives. Thousands more are displaced from the localities mentioned above. The number of wounded and killed is unspecified. A video circulating on social media shows a girl with wounds in the leg laying beside the dead body of her mother. The video is not independently verified. However, there have been similar stories from the area.
