Right now in Wollega, in the surroundings of Gida Ayana, Guten , Kiremu and Agamsa, deep in the villages, a crime against humanity is being committed, led by the group called GEDA Commando, which was set up by Abiy Ahmed Ali and his gangs. Right now, as it is being disseminated by those who are burning houses, farmlands and executing innocent civilians, mostly women and children, in the same spirit as the Hutus did to the Tutsis in Rwanda. It is also important to mention that Hutus killed other Hutus at that time. These criminals are killing not only other ethnic groups; they are also engaged in killing their own if they are not politically oriented like them. The world has deliberately ignored it. Those so-called hypocrite humanitarians are silent on this matter. Those elites of the country are quiet on it. Those who are using TikTok, YouTube and other social media to earn money are silent on it. Why? The answer is simple. Because those operations are false-flag operations of the government and they do not want to face the full force of it.
What is A False Flag Operation?
A false flag operation is an act committed by a government or entity but staged to look like it was carried out by another group (like an enemy nation or terrorist group) to manipulate public opinion, create fear, or justify a harsh crackdown. This is a common practice throughout time across the world. One good example of a false-flag operation from history is the Gleiwitz Incident of August 1939, orchestrated by Nazi Germany to manufacture a justification for invading Poland, effectively triggering World War II. Under a covert plan, a small group of German operatives disguised themselves in Polish military uniforms, stormed a German radio station in the border town of Gleiwitz (now in Poland), seized the microphone, and broadcast a short, aggressive anti-German message in Polish. Then Adolf Hitler gave a speech citing the Gleiwitz attack to claim Germany was acting in self-defense. German troops crossed the border immediately, starting the invasion of Poland, which in turn kicked off World War II. In the past two weeks, exactly such a false-flag operation has been effectively conducted by Abiy Ahmed Ali and his gangs in Wollega. And this operation is still going on.
Why in Wollega?
Wollega is one of the places that has seen active conflict, war, and disaster since Abiy Ahmed came to power. From the outset, its fate was decided by Abiy Ahmed Ali and his closest allies, like Aba Dulla, Shimelis Abdissa and others: Wollega was to go through crisis after crisis. Among the first military command post of Abiy Ahmed Ali was effectively set up in Wollega. When the majority of Ethiopians were still flirting with the Abiy phenomenon, Wollega had already started on the path of destruction within. Within one year of Abiy Ahmed’s reign, the place was already experiencing rampant bank robberies, kidnappings of civilians, murders in broad daylight (for example, the killing of mayors of cities), and the murder of other ethnic groups, especially Muslim Amhara, including Aisha, who said, “Do not kill me, I will never be Amhara again,” but was killed according to many testimonies from the area. The question is: why is Wollega destined to be a place of false-flag operations for the gangs of Abiy Ahmed Ali?
Most people agree that Wollega is the place where the Oromo liberation movement was born. It means it is in Wollega where the elites first thought of liberating the people from the perceived oppression in the country. Historically, many highly educated and prominent politicians have come out of Wollega: Dr. Haile Fida Kuma (Arjo, Wollega), Onesimos Nesib and Aster Ganno, Lencho Letta (Dembidolo, Wollega), Baro Tumsa (Boji, Wollega), Magarsa Barii, Dawud Ibsa, Bekele Gerba, Lemma Megersa, Milkessa Mideksa, and so on. As Professor Hizkiel Gabissa, one of the prominent thinkers who came from this area, said the other day on Free Press, in Wollega there were 14 high schools during the time of Haile Selassie and the Derg. Equating it with Tigray, which had one in Adwa, Gondar one, Debre Markos one, and Harar one, and so on. This means the children in Wollega had got opportunities to go to school and further joined the only university in Addis Ababa at the time. Such enlightenment did not come out of the vacuum. He did not specifically mention it, but it was due to the active Protestant missionary work that those schools were available at that time. The result was magnificent. The country used to have high-level doctors, political thinkers, authors, scientists, teachers, and so on.
This high academic excellence caused the leadership of the OLF to be mostly from Wollega. Later. As the political movement joined the TPLF and ELF to overthrow the Derg regime, and later joined the TPLF to come to power in Ethiopia, the Oromos from the other parts of what is now the Oromia region started to complain. Just as TPLF politics was dominated by those from Adwa, by those from the same high school driven by the missionaries, Oromo politics was led by those excellent thinkers from around Gimbi, Horogudru, Dembidolo and the likes. Side note: the late Meles Zenawi was a student of the high school where Aboy Sebhat Nega, the godfather of the TPLF, was serving as principal. Most of his comrades in TPLF were students at the same high school. This is how the political elites in Ethiopia over the past 50 years have been formed. Politics is a very dangerous business, and mostly you want to trust the ones whom you know and who are closer to you in many ways.
Now, what is the problem with that? People from other places feel discriminated against and they will create resentment. That is exactly what happened in the Oromia region. When TPLF came to power, it used it to divide the people in the region. TPLF recruited Oromos from other places to join OPDO so that it can dismantle the Wollega elite-dominated OLF, where the likes of Aba Dula Gemeda, the former president of the Oromia region and the godfather of Abiy Ahmed Ali’s government, came onto the political scene. Aba Dula Gemeda was not accepted by the elites of Oromia, especially in Wollega. He himself said that when he travelled there, the elders even asked him if he was Oromo. They thought that he had only an Oromo name; otherwise, how could he be Oromo and carry out such a crackdown on the Oromo people and the OLF at that time by partnering with the TPLF? So, the OPDO leadership used to be the most hated among Wollega.
Abiy Ahmed Ali and Wollega elites, and Wollega
By now everyone in the country, and even outside the country, knows that for Abiy Ahmed Ali one thing comes first: that is his power. He adores power more than his life. He told Dr. Milkessa, “I will not get out of this power unless you drag me out by my corpse.” Therefore, as Abiy Ahmed Ali came to power representing the Oromia region and the Oromo ethnic group, his first perceived challenge among the Oromo came from Wollega. His former boss, Dr. Lemma Megersa, the former president of the Oromia region and one of the engines of the change that happened in 2018 in Ethiopia, is from Wollega. Abiy Ahmed Ali of Beshasha, Jimma, did the unthinkable to smoothly conduct a coup against him and chase him out of the country. The friend of Dr. Lemma Megersa, Dr. Milkessa, described the whole process like a movie from exile; he himself was pursued to be killed by Abiy Ahmed Ali’s gangs. Since Abiy demanded that the elites from Wollega totally submit to him, otherwise they would all face his wrath: Dawud Ibsa (under house arrest), Bekele Gerba, Dr. Milkessa, and Dr. Lemma Megersa have all been exiled after failed operations to kill them, to mention a few. That means Abiy acted silently on Oromo elites first, before he marched to Tigray and Amhara to attack elites.
In order to crack down on the power base of the Wollega elites, Abiy deliberately sent the OLF forces that were in exile in Eritrea during the TPLF regime to Wellega after they returned to Ethiopia, with their guns intact, for the purpose of allowing them to function freely. They are called the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA). But Abiy Ahmed and Shimelis Abdisa from Ambo gave them a new name called Shane. He used this opportunity to recruit many other groups of mercenaries who would commit atrocities mostly against Oromo people and other ethnic groups, especially in places like East Wollega, West Wollega, Kellem, Gimbi, and Horro Guduru Wollega. This is where the false-flag operation of Abiy Ahmed Ali and his gangs started to evolve, among other places like Ataye, Arsi, Shashemene, and so on.
Mostly, in several atrocities, it is the OLA which is blamed. But many Oromo elites, like Jawar Mohammed, Milkessa, and Professor Hizkiel, say that it is the government’s Shane and other mercenaries who are committing such atrocities so that in Wollega and other places the OLA and other legitimate Oromo political forces will get a bad name and be rejected by the people as a result. Abiy and his gangs believe that if they continue this operation for a longer period of time, they will be able to convince the people to abandon the others and totally submit to them. Professor Hizkiel says that, just as the Tigray people fully submitted to the TPLF during TPLF rule, Abiy Ahmed Ali demands that the Oromo people, especially those in Wollega, subdue themselves to his rule only.
False Falg Operation in Wollega in August 2026, why?
In August 2026, there is an ongoing false-flag operation going on right now in Wollega. Why this time? In recent times, we have been hearing about a new coalition consisting of nine forces, like Fano, TPLF/TDF, OLA, and others from Afar, Gambela, Benishangul, Somalia, and other places, that have agreed to march on the government to root out Abiy Ahmed Ali and his gangs from power. Abiy Ahmed and his closest advisors are now trembling. They have devised a scheme to divide the coalition. One of the strategies is to create division and confusion by designing and implementing false flag operations and between these forces.
For example, to create division between Tigray people and Amhara people, by doing a false flag operation near Wolkait, like the one that happened a few weeks ago. Abiy and his gangs were not successful, since the Tigray forces diffused it effectively. Another place for the false flag operation to divide Fano and OLA is happening in Wollega. Fano forces representing the Amhara and the OLA representing the Oromo people. Abiy Ahme Ali and his gangs first sent their covert operatives to the rural areas of Kiremu, killing Amhara ethnics in Wollega. That is what is now being shared on social media. It is even recorded by themselves and is being claimed by the GEDA Commando and other forces, including the Oromia regional government forces. Some Oromo elites have protested the use of the word GEDA for the command post. It is clear, it is to destroy the reputation of Oromo culture. The point Abiy and his gangs want to make is that it is the Oromo people who are committing that atrocity against the Amhara people, since they want to hide behind the shield of the Oromo people. So, any plan of cooperating with Fano and OLA will not happen. The OLA has come out and said they are not in bed with the government. However, the group continues to do so.
What really transpired?
Abiy Ahmed Ali has gone silent in order to effectively implement this operation behind closed doors. First, they allow the recruited mercenaries to act like OLA forces attacking ethnic Amharas living in one of the rural areas in Wollega, around Gida Ayana, Guten, and Kiremu. Then they deliberately allow the Fano forces to hear about it and also lose 28 cars full of GEDA Commando and several other forces organized by the regional government forces to be attacked by a Fano operation. The Fano destroyed 24 cars and they also found 70 million (some say more than 300 million). Now the Oromo people in the area are told that the Amhara are killing the Oromo. That is it. That is what Abiy and his gangs are working hard to make happen, so that they can agitate the Oromo people and push the people to kill each other. Those who act as OLA, the ones the government sets up, are claiming that they are doing it. It seems some Amhara elites have fallen for it. Even Jawar Mohammed has come out leading this operation by siding with the government forces that he used to claim he is against. He has ordered his supporters, Kerroo, to join the government to defend Oromo people. Now this is an ongoing operation. The main purpose is to destroy the coalition that is coming against Abiy Ahmed Ali’s government. Can they be successful? We will see each other on time.
STOP ABIY AHMED ALI and his gangs
All those involved should not fall for the government’s false-flag operation. All other elites from Oromia, Amhara, and Ethiopians in general must understand this scheme of these criminal gangs and act to stop a more disastrous event from happening in the country. Not only in Wollega, but in many other places as well, this government has deliberately prepared and designed such false-flag operations. Those who work in the media should know better before they propagate these operations. Everyone should see the bigger picture: Who is doing what? Why are such atrocities happening in this particular place and at this particular time? We should not fall into hatred. Wollega should be restored to its dignity, the place where excellent scholars once emerged and can emerge again. Its name should be restored. It should become a safe place for all Ethiopians to live, irrespective of their ethnicity. Those who are gambling with the lives of ordinary people for political power must be exposed and held accountable before the situation escalates further.
International people, especially those who are residing in Addis Ababa, should know better. They should not remain silent forever and watch the country burn in the hands of incompetent people. There are many better Oromo, Amhara, Tigray, Somali, Afar, Benishangul, and other people who can lead the country in a stable way. They should start to say enough is enough. Otherwise, we Ethiopians are watching who is in bed with these genociders. When the time comes, Ethiopians will expose them, and the consequences will be costly in this changing world where new coalitions and a new world order are forming. There was a mistake when Derg elites went to the East to join the Soviet bloc due to mishandling. The consequence was bad. Ethiopia and many African countries will be forced to choose other alliances when they see that such atrocities are supported and highly financed by proxy states like the UAE. The world knows that the UAE is destroying not only Ethiopia, but Sudan and the likes. But this small country is not alone.
