Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – A devastating traffic accident in Addis Ababa today claimed the lives of nine people, including a three-year-old child.
The accident occurred in the Akaki Kality sub-city, specifically in the area commonly known as Abba Samuel in Woreda 3, according to Commander Markos Tadesse, Public Relations Director for the Addis Ababa Police. He spoke to Fana Digital about the incident.
Commander Markos explained that a public service bus traveling from Haile Garment towards Unisa Roundabout collided with a heavy vehicle. This initial impact caused the bus to swerve into the opposite lane.
Subsequently, the bus then crashed into a Dolphin vehicle that was traveling from Unisa Roundabout towards Haile Garment.
The collision resulted in the deaths of nine occupants of the Dolphin vehicle, including its driver. Among the deceased was the aforementioned three-year-old child. Additionally, eight people sustained severe injuries in the accident.
