Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Dr. Minase Eshete, a highly respected and cherished Obstetrician and Gynecologist, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to mothers and children. He passed away today, July 11, 2025, after a lifetime of tireless work.
Dr. Minase was widely known for his unwavering commitment to healthcare, particularly in Dessie town, South Wollo of the Amhara region, where he spent the majority of his career. Many of his patients affectionately referred to him as a “healer”.
Before establishing his own private health institution, Dr. Minase served diligently in government hospitals, demonstrating his dedication to public service. His compassionate care and profound expertise made him a truly commendable doctor, whose contributions to the well-being of the community are immeasurable.
Borkena spoke to senior and junior healthcare providers working at Dessie Referral Hospital who described Dr. Minase as one of a kind that the town, the Amhara region, and Ethiopia have truly lost. “We saw him as a model in being professional and a legend in his career,” they said.
“I grew up looking up to him, and his impact made me a doctor today,” said Dr. Muhi.
It is reported that his body is currently en route to Addis Ababa, where his funeral will take place.
