Toronto – Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) on Thursday said it has launched an attack on Air Borne Commando government forces in a location near Epheson, Ataye area.
Abedela Indris, Spokesperson of the Fano forces operating in the area, shared the story on his personal social media page.
“The 103rd Air Borne Division which was in Bergibi for months engaged in looting and repressing the people is hit hard with a joint operation of Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) Asamew Command and Amhara Fano Popular Organization (AFPO) Shewa Teklay Gizat Command,” he wrote on his social media page.
The operation took place on Thursday starting 5 A,M. from four directions with the joint forces. They were attacking from Bemeja, Gerbiwusha water town and Tele tower areas,
The spokesperson described the operation as “challenging” but it was a blowing defeat for the commando government forces. “Our forces broke the spine of enemy forces,” he added.
Atse Zerayacob 1 Corps, 7 to 70 division of AFNF was attacking from Saramba Tele tower, Kara Legoma, and Tereter areas. Atse Yikino Amlak Division was undertaking the operation from Arb Gebeya and Achebchebe Heights of the area.
Shewa Teklay Gizat Amde Tsion Corps and Sebat Le Seba Nahusenay Sino Shalka divisions were also involved in the operation, according to the source.
The update from the spokesperson added that a reinforcement was sent from Kemise (further north of Ataye) “as the 103 Commando Force was unable to withstand the attack” but it did not change the outcome of the battle.
In the afternoon, there was a battle in Ameja Gebriel heights. Rambo division of the fano forces has claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on the “enemy forces.”
No specified figure of casualties was provided in the update. However, it said that “enemy forces collected three ambulances full of diabodies and wounded soldiers.”
Other news sources reported as many as 180 government forces were killed in the joint operation.
About two weeks ago, Fano forces claimed that they killed about 90 government soldiers.
The Ethiopian Defense force did not remark on claims from Fano. On the other hand, it made a counter-claims that it “wiped out the extremists forces in Ephrata Gidim” – which is the area where the Fano forces claimed significant military gain.
“In north Shoa zone Ephrata Gidim district Amoja Gebreil locality, the Commando Regiment burned the extremist force with the fire it lit itself,” The defense force said citing Lieutenant Gizachew Tadesse who appears to be commander of the forces.
The Defense force clearly admitted, albeit indirectly, that the Fano forces whom it called “extremists” were at least in a position to make “provocations,” as it called it. Senior Defense Force officials, including the Defense Chief, have been making claims that the Fano forces are no longer in a position to fight.
It begs the question if a force that can not stand its ground attempt fighting could start a “provocation.”
The claims both from Fano and Defense Force are not independently verified.

Is this supposed to be good news where brothers are shooting at and killing each other? I guess that has become the only news that get certain readers so excited. The youth in many corners of both Amhara and Oromia regions has been mentally twisted by bigots and connivers to trade his cell phone for AK47’s and in stead of going to schools but to go to some foresaken joints where he will be trained to kill his other brothers. There is nothing good about it. Absolutely nothing.
