Toronto – Amhara Fano Shoa Tekelay Gizat forces claim that they attacked Ethiopian Defense Force military camp in Shewarobit, North Shoa.
Ethio News cited its sources from the area to report that the Fano forces launched an attack around 5 a.m. on Friday triggering hours long intense fighting in the area.
The camp is located in 04 kebele location in the town. According to the source, Fano forces have reported that they have killed dozens of government forces and seized firearms. However, the number of casualties were unspecified. Losses on the side of Fano not disclosed as well.
The source also indicated that there was restriction of transportation in the town and businesses remained closed due to the ongoing exchange of power. It appears, however, Fano forces were not in full control of the city. Fano presence is mostly surrounding the town, according to the source.
In a similar development, the fighting between Fano and government forces in the North Wollo area of the Amhara region continued for a fourth day. It was the Meket district that was said to be battle place in the locality of Kolit Washa. Fano forces claimed to have the upper hand.
However, the Ethiopian Defense Force is projecting a different narrative. In an update it shared on its social media page on Friday, it claimed that it annihilated the “extremist” forces in Meket. The operation was coordinated with district security forces and anti-riot police.
It also claimed that 16 “extremists” surrendered to the Defense force. It shared a picture of what it said are “extremist” forces with AK 47 and some other seemingly backward rifles. Ethio News reported that the Defense Force forced residents from the area to act as captives and their licensed guns were displayed as if they were seized during an operation against Fano forces.

እንዲህ ራሳችንን ማዋረዱ ቢቀርብን አይሻልም? የሚጠቀሙት ጠላቶቻ ችን ብቻ ናቸው! እስቲ – ለለውጥ ያህል እንኳን – ቆም ብለን እናስብበት!
Then again, who do you believe? If we have observed the routine over the years, there has always been a rebut by the other group when one claims success in killing and capturing soldiers/fighters of its enemy. Such sets of claims and counter claims by warring faction go back to the 1960’s. It looks to be a healing therapy when one incurs losses in humans and materials. It has always been the proforma. The rebels then and now have to come up stories of spectacular victories in order to make their benefactors happy and not lose confidence/trust in them. The government has to issue one news of enemy annihilation after another to keep its followers as loyal as they have been. But one dark and agonizing reality is true. The youth is the one that has been heavy price with its Allah gifted lives. The leaders of the warring faction sit in their safe joints and send the gullible and hapless youth ujuum into awaiting infernos. The leaders of all so-called liberation fronts/armies, Mengistu and TPLF-led EPRDF had done that between 1960 and 2018. Now it is the seating regime and the armed groups both in Amhara and Oromia regions. I’m sating this with my longtime conviction still intact that there has never been a single armed group that brought peace, stability and the rule of law after it overthrows a sitting government. Not one since George Washington and his armed militia defeated a brutal ruler. If you want me to give you examples I would tell you to look around the Horn of Africa. Some of you may try to tell me Rwanda this and Zimbabwe that. Just do make a fool of yourself. Look around.
Make that:
1) The youth is the one that has been paying a heavy price with its Allah gifted lives.
2) I’m saying this with my longtime conviction still intact that there has never been a single armed group that brought peace,
stability and the rule of law after it overthrows a sitting government.
