According to the source, the defense force unit was armed with Z-23 and mortars but it was ambushed and attacked in two locations ; Akrmit and Terre.
Fanos claimed that several soldiers were killed from the operation but it did not specify the number. They did not specify if there were any casualties on their parts too.
The Ethiopian Defense Force has not remarked about it at the time of this writing.

As a concerned Amhara, I am not clear about the ultimate goal of the Fano group. If they manage to drive out the government forces from my region, what will they be doing with it? What is in their scheme of things once all government and hundreds of thousands of regional Amhara employees are thrown out of the region? Who will be in charge? I need to be told and my entire Amhara people want to know that now. My Amhara people can not wait to see the monkey off their back. They have been mistreated for decades but we want to know when it will end and who will do that. Fanos have been reporting one victory after another for the last 5 or so years and must have a sizeable territory under their control all these time. I don’t remember them calling for and holding a conference with representatives from every district in the region. My Amharas are not and will not be ready for another monkey on their backs.
There is no ‘Your Amhara people’. It is a proud people and Fano represents it so Fano will administer it.
Over 15 million Amaras live in Oromiya [ youtu.be/IXBVqbOe9uY?t=2320 ]. That alone is more than the Amaras in the Amara Zone. Compare: I have never met any Oromo in Gojjam & Gonder.
No Oromo invited or forced any Amara to live in Oromiya. If their existence is under threat, they were free to live. Why did they refuse to move back to Amara Zone? Isn’t it to put these Amaras in harm’s way that some fan the Amara-Oromo rift?
