Toronto – Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF) on Wednesday announced that they have attained significant military gains in three fronts – east, west and south.
The east Amhara zone Menelik command said that it is in control of Genete town. It is the Ali Core division of the command that reportedly controlled the town in the South Wollo zone of the Amhara region.
In the west, Tewodros Command reported an intense battle against government forces and militia in the area. It claimed that it has killed 8 government soldiers and five others are injured. Details about casualties on the part of Fano are unspecified.
“Government troops who attempted to broaden the area of control from its camp were beaten from three directions and returned[to its camp],” Fano forces claimed.
Fano forces engaged the government force in “Zengasa” locality. A reinforcement mobilized from Adet heading to Geregera direction was ambushed at Gurbagir locality, according to disclosure from Fano Forces.
In South Amhara, Atse Zara Yacob division of Asamenew Tsige Command stated that it had attacked a government force that was holding a fortified position in China Camp. This operation was carried out in the government forces military camp.
The same division claimed that it had attacked troops in Jemma. Merhabete and Lemi areas. The troops were reportedly on a move between those three locations. Again, the number of casualties is unspecified.
In a related development, Fano claimed that eight government troops deserted to their camp. For over two weeks, there was a claim that government soldiers were increasingly deserting to Fano forces in different parts of the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian government has not remarked about Fano forces control of Genete town. On the other hand, it has been making claims of “victory” against Fano Forces.
