Toronto – Fano forces reportedly controlled Gashena Town on Tuesday.
Ethio News cited sources from the area to report ( about six hours ago) that Fano forces took control of the strategic town after besieging the town for several hours. It is located along the Woldia – Debretabor road. It is also a cross road to Wadla and Lalibela areas of the Amhara region.
Notably, one of the fiercest battles during the 2020-2022 war between the Tigray People’s Liberation Forces and the Federal government was in Gashena – which is attributed to its strategic significance.
Some sources report that government forces had a fortified trench in the town but fano forces were able to storm it, according to sources.
According to Ethio News, government forces extensively used mechanized units and drone strikes to maintain control of the town. However, fano forces were able to control it after hours of battle.
Fano forces have managed to control all parts of the town. At the time of reporting, there was a continuous gunfire sound.
The number of casualties on both sides is unspecified. The Ethiopian Defense Force has not remarked about it at this point.
Fano forces are expected to release a statement about the Gashena operation. The reported control of the town came a day after Kone, Wadla district center, fell into the hands of the rebel forces.
From the operations across the Amhara region of Ethiopia over the past two years, Fano forces have a habit of controlling towns for a day or two and then withdraw from it. They explain it as a part of a measure to protect civilians from artillery shelling from government forces.
Government forces have suffered recurring military losses the past few weeks in North Wollo including in Sanda and Beklo Manekia where more than 470 government forces were reportedly killed.
The Ethiopian government alleged that Eritrean and TPLF forces were involved in the planning and execution of the Fano operation in the areas mentioned above. However, Fano forces rejected it as a pure lie.
Fano forces have also announced that there will be a major operation in Gojjam areas of the Amhara region.

Forget about what this general said. I just returned from a hasty trip to Addis/Finfinne. I had to teleport myself due to an emergency situation. When I got there the city was surrounded by the mighty army of my longtime hommies Yemane and Al-Toweel Isu. They were not the ones doing the actual fighting. They were there as planners and leaders of the action. Fanos in a united front with the TPLF soldiers were the ones doing the fighting. It took 100 soldiers of Yemane and Al-Toweel only 2 hours to reach Addis/Finfinne from their border. Both Abiy and Jula have fled the country. Abiy is now living in an abandoned old factory building in DC and working as a parking lot attendant. Jula is now in Seattle living in the streets and working as a hammaal(porter) at a Greyhound bus stop. Ethiopia, you’re toast, glazed and gobbled up already. I told you a million times not t start with my home boys Yemane and Al-Toweel Isu. All these two needed was loyal beasts of burden and they’ve found the best ones in Fanos, Debre’s TPLF and the dread-locked Rastaman wandering in the wilds of Western Oromia. I told you not to rattle the cage but you did not heed my advice. Now it is too late for you. You’re gone for good. You never existed anyway. Good bye!!! Excuse me for now. I am teleporting myself to Piccola Roma to have the first dibs of the reinvented lasagna with my Black Italian buddies Yemane and Al-Toweel Isu. See ya!!!!
