Toronto – Fano Forces on Saturday announced a significant military gain in the North Wollo area of the Amahra region of Ethiopia.

Abebe Fantaw, spokesperson of the Menelik Command of the Amhara Fano National Force (AFNF), shared a news release on his social media page.

He said there was an intense battle between Menelik Command forces and what he described as “fascist regime” ( a reference to Ethiopian Defense Force) in the Woldia area including the surroundings of Tikur Wuha and Sanka town.

He claimed his forces fired RPG attacking Z23 mounted on a military truck in the locality of Zendo Jirat. He shared a picture of the military truck on fire along with the brief news release. No information was shared as to when the operation was conducted.

Furthermore,he claimed that government forces including senior officials were captured without specifying the number of casualties – including from the side of Fano forces.

The operation was a joint one between different corps of the Menelink Command of AFNF. Dilb and Sekela areas were closed to prevent defense force deployment of reinforcements, Abebe Fantaw said, calling the outcome “victory.”

The claim is not independently verified due to the restrictions in place in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.  However, the spokesperson has stated that more details about the operation will be made public.

A new picture purportedly showing captured government soldiers has been circulating on social media over the past two days.

Defense Force or Ethiopian government communication ministry did not remark on Fano’s new claim. Notably, Fano forces have killed hundreds of soldiers in the same area about three or so months ago.

Meanwhile, the Ethiopian Defense Force on Sunday said armed groups who were “hiding in the jungle” in different zones of Ebnat district in South Gondar “accepted the government call for peace and returned.”

The update shared on the Defense Force social media page attributed the information to Let. Colonel Mekuantent Legesse, Deputy commander of 10th Command.

The number of those who allegedly “returned” is unspecified. A picture the defense force shared depicts an estimated 30 persons in a group picture.

Furthermore, it said that they surrendered firearms and “expressed readiness for rehabilitation training.”  The Defense Force’s claim was not independently verified either.

  1. There you go! Another round of beauty contest. One outdoing the other on the battlefields. In Oromia if you pose writing down numbers, your total will show there are no Oromos left alive. They are killed in the battlefields and the number weapons captured will exceed the ones in the NATO, Russian and Chinese combined arsenal. In Amhara region there are no humans left alive all killed during military engagements. In Tigray, all Tigres are no more, gone dead along time ago. Now you know. Hey el-Sisi! What are you waiting for? Go and grab the dam. Nobody will be there to stand in your way. Hey my longtime homeboy Al-Toweel Isu! Stop dragging your feet and add the entire Tigray to your fiefdom. Let’s go!!!
