Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) says it is set to collect agenda from the diaspora in Washington, D.C from August 23 to 31, 2025.
In a video message, Professor Mesfin Araya, the chief commissioner of the commission, stated that the Commission completed its collection of agenda from 11 regions of Ethiopia, including two city administrations, Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa.
The chief commissioner said that the commission has now started collecting agenda items from Ethiopians living in the diaspora.
The Chief Commissioner mentioned that the commission has recently gathered agenda from Ethiopian diaspora residing in Egypt, South Africa, Botswana, Kenya and other unnamed African countries.
He said collecting agenda from Ethiopian diaspora residing in the continent shall continue though he didn’t specify for how long since the commission is due past and a year extension was added recently. The Commissioner further stated that similar activities shall be held in Europe, America and Asia.
He specifically mentioned that a face-to-face discussion was recently held in Pretoria, South Africa. “There are citizens who came to Pretoria, including from neighboring countries, and submitted a fundamental agenda,” he said. But he did specify what those “fundamental agendas” were.
In his message, he called on the diaspora to engage either face to face or on online platforms and raise their agenda.
It’s worth to note that the House of People Representatives established the NDC on December 29, 2021 intending to bring national reconciliation and peace in the country.
Since then, the commission has been collecting agenda in parts of Ethiopia but many have doubted its effectiveness considering the ongoing conflicts in the country, especially in the restive regions of Amhara, Tigray and Oromia.
The Amhara region has been embroiled in active conflicts between the Federal government and the local armed groups, the Fano. A few months ago, Professor Areya had a meeting in Bahir Dar, Amhara’s capital where he said he collected agenda from one branch of the Fano armed group but he later retrieved his statement and said he did not receive such agenda.
Many in the region are still in doubt whether the Commission genuinely collected the agenda that represents the views of people in the region.

Greetings,
I am apart of the North America diaspora network looking for jobs in Washington, DC where I graduated only less than what is approaching 5 years. I haven’t been employed in no federal level job opportunity yet, can use help or counter a lawsuit against Howard University graduate school for academic hazing, bullying, and failing to literally assistant me when securing a job in the United States high ranking government. The Howard University administration also figured a way to exploit my status as a Alumni with out giving direct assistance towards my international leadership or capacity to serve as a international leader. I am a member of the Ethiopia Africa Black International Congress a Rastafari religion a human rights organization. Therefore, I can clearly define that Howard University administration refusal towards economic assistance is a result of exploitation and discrimination. Also I lived outside the United States by choice. In fact, both universities I have attended are all declining to assist with competitive paid opportunities. And I am apart of the Ethiopia diaspora of the Washington DC area
