(Nairobi, Kenya) — A consortium of Dutch dairy entities, led by machinery supplier Ante BV, has announced plans to establish a commercial service and training facility in Ethiopia to boost the country’s domestic dairy production capacity.
The initiative is supported by the Dutch government through its “Impact Cluster” framework, an international development program focused on introducing agricultural technologies and technical expertise to emerging livestock sectors.
According to project disclosures by Ante BV, the center will offer specialized technical training for smallholder dairy farmers, commercial livestock operations, and milk processors. The facility will feature equipment demonstrations, on-site maintenance services, and professional advisory programs.
The local entity, Ante Ethiopia, will oversee domestic operations. Partner organizations—including DTC International B.V. and Coöperatie Koninklijke CRV U.A.—will provide technical consultancy, fodder development support, herd health management, and artificial insemination services for breed improvement.
Ante BV stated that the institution is designed to serve as a long-term knowledge hub for Ethiopia’s dairy industry, facilitating technology transfer, local workforce skill development, and ongoing machinery repair access.
This private-sector project matches Ethiopia’s National Dairy Development Strategy (2022–2031), which aims to significantly boost raw milk production and make the supply chain more efficient in key production areas. According to data from market research company IMARC Group, Ethiopia’s dairy industry is expected to grow from $1.1 billion USD in 2025 to $1.7 billion USD by 2034, driven by rising urbanization and an increased consumer demand for processed dairy products.
