Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) announced Tuesday that State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hadera Abera, met with Caroline Mary Delany, Director General at the Global Affairs Canada for Eastern, Central and Southern African Affairs.
During the meeting, Ambassador Hadera underscored the “strong and long standing bilateral ties between Ethiopia and Canada,” and highlighted Ethiopia’s “favorable investment climate,” encouraging Canadian companies to expand their engagement in the country.
He reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to further strengthening relations with Canada, particularly in the area of economic cooperation. The State Minister also briefed Delany on the current peace and security situation both regionally and domestically.
For her part, Delany stated that “Canada views Ethiopia as a key partner in the region” and is committed to deepening bilateral cooperation. She expressed Canada’s interest in expanding collaboration in sectors such as agriculture, mining, and health.
The two officials also exchanged views on a range of global issues of mutual concern.
