Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Awash Bank and the Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA) have signed an agreement to collaborate on upgrading the water bill payment system.
The partnership aims to leverage technology to enhance services provided to the public and modernize the monthly water bill payment process for residents of Addis Ababa.
According to Ethio FM reports, the agreement will enable water bill payments to be processed through Awash Bank’s various payment channels. It will also facilitate a system where customers of other financial institutions can seamlessly pay their water bills through their preferred banks.
The technological solution provided by Awash Bank is expected to streamline AAWSA’s service delivery, potentially reducing manpower needs and operational costs.
Furthermore, the integration of other institutions’ systems directly with Awash Bank’s platform will allow their customers to pay water bills conveniently. This integration is also expected to simplify the reconciliation process for AAWSA, as they will primarily work with Awash Bank for these transactions.
The reports also noted that Awash Bank customers are currently able to pay their monthly electricity bills at any of the bank’s over 980 branches nationwide.
