Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ministry of Tourism of Ethiopia today officially released the updated hotel star rating results for Addis Ababa, following a comprehensive reassessment conducted as part of its 2025 quality evaluation program.
According to the Ministry, the results cover the assessments of 40 hotels, assigning ratings ranging from one to five stars based on strict evaluation criteria. “Out of the 40 hotels reviewed, 34 were re-evaluated based on previous ratings, while six were newly rated,” said Tariku Demissie, Executive Director of Quality Assurance and Grading of Tourism Services at the Ministry of Tourism.
Tariku emphasized that the Ministry holds the mandate to determine hotel ratings and monitor compliance. He noted, “This assessment ensures the quality of tourist services provided, and reflects both improvements and areas needing attention within the sector.”
Three new hotels in the city were granted five-star status, joining an existing list of premium establishments. Additionally, two hotels have newly achieved four-star ratings. Tariku added that while some hotels experienced a downgrade in their previous ratings, others showed improvement and were promoted to higher categories.
The Ministry identified the following hotels as holding five-star status in Addis Ababa:
- Hyatt Regency Hotel
- Skylight Hotel
- Sheraton Addis Hotel
- Elilly International Hotel
- Capital Hotel
- Radisson Blu Hotel
- Marriott Executive Apartments
- Golden Tulip Hotel
- Hilton Addis Hotel
- Inter Luxury Hotel
- Nexus Inn Hotel
