Abiy Ahmed Ali, the hijack expert, did it again; Why does he continue to do so?

Abiy Ahmed Ali has spent the last decade hijacking virtually every aspect of Ethiopian life. First, he effectively hijacked the popular movement created by the Qeerroo and Fano youth, then the OPDO party leadership from Lemma Megersa, the former President of the Oromia region. He then hijacked the premiership itself from Hailemariyam and he then hijacked EPDRF from TPLF leadership. After occupying 4 Kilo, he hijacked the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project from the Ethiopian people and Engineer Simegnew Bekele, among others. He has since literally hijacked every major institution in the country: the military, intelligence services, Airlines, telecommunications, INSA, NISS, diplomacy, the economy, and regional administrations. He has even hijacked the leadership of the major religious organizations: the Orthodox Church, Protestant denominations, and the Muslim community. Under his leadership, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance, and virtually every other ministry has lost all independent meaning. Everything is done according to his personal wishes, and everyone in these institutions breathes according to his rhythm. This is not an exaggeration. It is the day-to-day reality in the country. Even the Ethiopian diaspora movement, like the NO-More movement, was hijacked by him effectively. 

Hijacked the 7^th election 

Recently, he showed how he hijacked the 7th election effectively. According to several reports, there was no meaningful election in the country. For example, in the Tigray region, there was no election at all. In the Amhara region, only 3% of the election posts conducted any election activities. These activities were carried out just for the sake of pictures and videos, so that he could mislead the world into believing an election had taken place in the region. In reality, 97% of the election posts, that is, 11,545 out of 11,902, had no election activities at all, according to the Fano forces in the region. In the Oromia region, elections were held in only about one-third of the posts; in most areas, there was none. When you add up these major regions, which together account for about two-thirds of the country, they had no meaningful representation. Even in Addis Ababa, according to insiders, during the vote count, the majority wrote several things including the F word and many other things, embarrassingly.  So why are you claiming that you held a fair and square election and won it legitimately? The answer is simple: You are a narcissist who is very good at hijacking things for yourself, and you actually believe your own narrative.

Hijacked the National Dialogue 

Ethiopians had one remaining hope to restore their country: genuine dialogue. Real dialogue to heal the land. A genuine dialogue can help heal a nation like Ethiopia by creating space for people to listen to one another with honesty, respect, and empathy, even when their histories and experiences are painful. When individuals and communities are given the opportunity to share their voices without fear, misunderstandings can begin to dissolve, and trust can slowly be rebuilt. True dialogue is not about winning arguments, but about seeking shared understanding and acknowledging both suffering and responsibility. In a diverse country like Ethiopia, where identities run deep, sincere conversations can bridge divisions, promote reconciliation, and lay the foundation for lasting peace by focusing on what unites people rather than what divides them. THIS precious OPPORTUNITY OF TRUE DIALOGUE has once again been hijacked by the impostor-in-chief.

There are many enablers for this. But one man stands out clearly in the process. The person who enabled Abiy Ahmed Ali to obtain his doctoral degree, Professor Mesfin Araya, also known as Chief Commissioner Mesfin Araya and his doctoral study advisor, has played a central role in allowing this to happen. For example, according to inside reports, 98% of participants in the Amhara region, 75% in the Oromia region, and 68% in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ region demanded that Abiy Ahmed Ali resign from leadership. However, this critical agenda was deliberately sidelined by the chief hijacker, with the active help of Professor Mesfin Araya. Instead, eight agendas prepared by the hijacker himself have been put on display. These agendas are designed to transform him from PRIME MINISTER TO PRESIDENT of the country. 

Why He continues to Hijack

Why is Abiy Ahmed Ali able to carry out all these hijackings in a country of 130 million people? Among the many possible reasons, one stands out above the rest: Abiy believes that the Ethiopian people are not particularly intelligent. This is according to people who know him very well. He thinks he can deceive them easily. Control over the media, social media, and the support of various enablers have helped him do this effectively. However, Abiy also believes that Ethiopians are mostly religious people. Almost 99% of the population is either Orthodox Christian, Muslim, Protestant, or Catholic. He assumes that religious people have lower IQs and that no one will ask real questions.  For example, people in neighboring Kenya will hold their government accountable if it tries to impose even a small tax increase or raise fuel prices. In Ethiopia, however, the people tend to tolerate such measures. Abiy Ahmed has skillfully capitalized on this perception. 

Abiy Ahmed Ali, for some reason, is always one step ahead of the people. By the time Ethiopians wake up, he has already completed his project. The people initially followed him into war against the TPLF and the people of Tigray because he convinced them that he was the underdog, a peaceful man, and that the northerners were solely to blame. But now that everything is done, his crafty calculations aimed at destroying Tigray, the Amhara region, and even parts of Oromia (such as Wellega) have become very clear to the people. But it was late. 

Even the opposition media and social media personalities have become the main ones announcing to the public what will come next in his plan. Abiy feeds them information through third parties, making it appear as though those feeding the opposition media are insiders working against the government. Social media influencers, especially on YouTube, come out almost daily to declare what he intends to do next. They believe they are fiercely opposing him, but in reality, they are effectively helping him by gradually desensitizing the people to the terrible situations unfolding in the country. For example, the idea that Abiy would become president was first announced by prominent opposition media figures. Since then, it has been repeated many times. Now, when Abiy becomes president in September, the people will already be psychologically prepared, and there will be little public confusion or resistance.

The main Reason

Why are Ethiopians not awaking and resisting this man? Why are there so many enablers around him? The main reason is that ETHIOPIANS ARE DIVIDED! Ethiopians are not low-IQ people, as some have tried to suggest. But they are effectively divided along ethnic lines. Abiy Ahmed has understood this reality very well and skillfully capitalizes on it. The Tigray elite do not trust the Amhara, the Amhara do not trust the Oromo elites, and vice versa. This is a safe haven for the hijacker. That is how he hijacked the premiership. That is how he has hijacked every major institution in the country. Divide and rule, the oldest wisdom used by kings and emperors throughout history to maintain power. No wonder Ethiopians currently appear like lame ducks, unable to remove a “7th grader” who is street-smart enough to have hijacked virtually everything in the country. That is why the mere sound of unity scares him. There is growing talk of unity under the name “TSIMDO.” He does not want the Amhara and Tigray people to collaborate. He does not want the Oromo and Amhara people to come together to resolve their differences through dialogue. As long as Ethiopians remain divided and confused, they will stay under his leadership for the coming decades, with him as President of the country. There is no way out of this situation except unity. As far as you believe in division, you will live under his leadership. Life goes on as wise Ethiopians once said “ወደሽ ከተገዛሽ ቢረግጡሽ አይከፋሽ”!
