Toronto – The Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA) on Sunday announced that the 43rd edition of the annual soccer tournament and cultural event will take place in Minnesota between June 27 and July 4 this year.
The event attracts tens of thousands of Ethiopians (Ethiopian-Americans and Ethiopian-Canadians) from across North America.
“Set against the iconic backdrop of Minnesota, this year’s visual identity celebrates a rich legacy of sport, community, and Ethiopian heritage,” the Federation wrote on a Facebook page update.
The Federation has added athletics events in addition to grand cultural festivals.
It said “This year’s tournament promises to be one of the most vibrant in ESFNA history.”
32 Soccer teams from Ethiopian communities across North America will be competing to claim a championship title of the 43rd edition of the tournament.
In terms of culture, the event features, as has been the case for many many years now, Ethiopian cuisine, music, traditional dance and marketplace.
The Federation has also unveiled the logo for this year’s tournament.
“The 43rd annual event is more than just a tournament; it’s a long awaited homecoming. This logo represents our pride, our growth, and the incredible spirit of the Minnesota community that will be our host. We can’t wait to welcome everyone this June,
The event usually features guests of honor from Ethiopia. This year’s guests of honour is yet to be disclosed.
