Eritrean President Heads To Saudi Arabia To Enhance “Bilateral Cooperation”

Ministry of Information of Eritrea

Toronto – Eritrea’s Ministry of Information on Tuesday announced that President Isaias Afewerki is headed to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s king Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, initiated the visit, according to the Ministry.

Furthermore, the ministry indicated that the working visit is four days long.

President Isaias and his delegation will be meeting with Saudi government officials. Agenda items for discussion is said to be ” enhancement of bilateral ties of cooperation and partnership as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest,” as described by the Ministry of Information.

Osman Saleh, Eritrea’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, is part of the delegation.

In late October this year, president Isaias and his delegates  were on a five day working visit to Egypt and more recently he visited Sudan where he met with General Abdul Fetah Al-Burhan.

His recent visits came amid confrontation with Ethiopia over the latter’s pursuit of access to the Red Sea agenda.

Ethiopia became landlocked in 1993 after Eritrea became an independent country. However, the lingering question on the manner in which the Assab was made part of Eritrea resurged recently.

Red Sea littoral countries including Egypt and Saudi Arabia vow “non-Red Sea” state is not allowed to have access to it.

While many tend to see that Ethiopia and Eritrea are inevitably heading to war, political figures like Getachew Reda seem to dismiss, as he did during his recent appearance on Aljazeera, that war will not break out.

United States’ National Security Strategy in Africa stated commitment to  avert war in the Horn of Africa including between Eritrea and Ethiopia.

  1. 1. If meeting was “initiated” by Saudi king, then it is no longer “a bilateral cooperation.”
    2. The statement that “Osman Saleh, Eritrea’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, is part of the delegation” is interesting in a funny way; it just means Isaias did not want to leave Osman behind (wink, wink). You get it?
    3. The ownership of the airplane is hidden after the letters “K-i-n.” As Isaias does not have a ride to cross Red Sea, the Saudi king must have arranged for him a “uber plane” to come to the palace for further instructions. Isaias, who once used his being “Christian” to get rid of the Muslim-dominated Elf now is acting a “Muslim” member of the Arab League.
    4. Time for Old Man Isaias is running out. May be he should undergo a heart transplant while in Saudi to become a good Muslim.

  2. With the spanking new fleet of F35’s and Al-Toweel Isu’s Su35’s, Ethiopia, you’re toast. You will not even a chance to say ‘What did just happen?’ After the victorious armies of el-Sisi, Al-Toweel and a squadron F35’s march into Addis, the first task in order will be to deport all those Amharas and Oromos from Ethiopia to where they came from, Hadhramaut[ and Dhofari in Southeastern Yemen and Southwestern Oman. These two groups of people have always been causing mischief and trouble. Good riddance!!! The rest groups of people will be used as hammaals(coolies) ny the victorious Sisi and Al-Toweel.

    • Somebody asked me how about the Tigres. They have their own country. Debre and his entourage will move to Al-Toweel Isu’s fiefdom to do the brick laying on his driveway and shoe shine his boots everyday. The rest of Tigres will voluntarily deport themselves to where they came from: Along the Tigris River in present day Iraq.
