Toronto – Egypt’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Mohamed Omar Gad, on Thursday met with Ethiopia’s Minister for  Foreign Affairs – Taye Atske-Selassie.

According to a brief disclosure from the Ministry, bilateral, regional and multilateral “issues of concern” were discussed.

Sudan, “Al-Shabaab threat to Somalia” and the region as well as the Post-ATMIS situation in Somalia are among those that were discussed, according to an update from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.

It appears that Ethiopia has expressed “concern” about the situation in Somalia in the post-ATMOS circumstances.

The update from the ministry came at a time when news was emerging about Egypt and Djibouti expressing interest to send “troops” to Somalia.

There has been an activity on the part of Egypt to militarize the difference between Ethiopia and Somalia.

On August 8, 2024 – Somaliland issued a statement protesting Egyptian remarks during a joint presser with Turkey regarding the agreement with Ethiopia. “The statements made regarding the MoU between the Republic of Somaliland and Ethiopia are inaccurate, misleading, and  disregard the sovereign rights of our people,” Somaliland said.

Dispute between Somalia and Ethiopia revolves around the latter’s deal with Somaliland to get an access to a 20 kilometers stretch of coastal area in exchange for recognition for Somaliland statehood. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on January 1, 2024.

But what appears to be an official hostile relation between Egypt and Ethiopia  has now been over a decade. Egypt sees the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) project a “national security threat” and has been attempting to destabilize Ethiopia.  If true, Egypt’s deployment of troops to Somalia.

  1. Africa is a strange creature when it comes to inter nations relations. Isn’t it? You will see them hurling disparaging terms at each other on Monday and you will find them hugging each other on Wednesday. Weird, weird, weird!!!

Somalia is not out of the woods yet when it comes to terrorism. A huge swath of that country is still controlled by the terrorist group. If Egypt is going to send its fat cats to Somalia to root out the terrorists is to be seen. Sudan can go completely belly up opening the door for terrorist groups. For Egypt to use Somalia as a springboard to invade Ethiopia to blow up the dam, that is unthinkable. Any use of force by Egypt to solve its unsubstantiated concern about the dam may end up being a lethal disaster to Egypt itself. It may end up losing the waters of the Blue Nile forever. Dialogue is the only way foreword.

  2. Hey all of you dumb Ethiopians! This is your master el-Sisi talking to you about your shabby dam. My Egypt will need all the water it can get for the 2040 Olympics my country is applying for. That is why I have a big plan to build a 3-mile wide underground canal from Lake Tana all the way to my beautiful city of Al-Qahirah. First I have to take possession of the territory that includes Lake Tana by all means necessary. That is why I am moving an air and ground task force to Somalia soon. My adopted children in Piccolo Roma are going with my master plan and have given me the green light to use their facilities during the entire expedition. I promise you that my task force is mandated to wipe every living and breathing Amhara and Oromo from the country I hate most called Ethiopia. I’m coming at you!!!

  3. This is it! The ultimatum was delivered and the deadline had expired. At the latest meeting in Ankara, Ethiopia was given the final ultimatum with the following:
    1) Surrender the areas that stretches from Dewele to the banks of Awash River and from Moyale to Awasa to Somalia.
    2) Hand over the area where the GERD dam is located including the region that includes the source of the Blue Nile, Lake Tana to the mighty Egypt. An MOU has already been signed between the two rebel groups in Oromia, Amhara, a TPLF faction and Egypt on this arrangement.
3). Ethiopia must pay Piccolo Roma 200 billion in US dollars for the invasion it carried out at the Battle of Keren in 1941.

All these three tasks were to be done by midnight yesterday but they were not. That left Somalia, Egypt, Piccolo Roma and Ankara with no option except to carry out punitive military expedition. It took only 4 hours to accomplish that and now Addis/Finfinne has fallen. Af-Mishaar is on-site taking inventory of the teritory that belongs to Somalia and make sure not a single Amhara and Oromo is left alive. Please join me in celebrating this occasion with the old Somali spiritual.
    Hareemade Ana Haban …
    You got it!!!
