Toronto – Ethiopians living in Germany and other neighbouring countries on Wednesday took to the street in Berlin.
Protesters condemned the killngs and attack on the followers of Ethiopian Orthodox church followers in Ethiopia.
According to DW Amharic report, it is the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Germany and the diocese in the region that organized the peaceful protest.
Over the past five or so weeks, there have been recurring reports of slaughter of Orthodox Church followers in Sherka and Merti district of Arsi, Oromia region of Ethiopia.
Several dozens of Christians from the Orthodox Congregations had been killed although the Inter Religious Council of Ethiopia released a blurry report of “its investigation” there were victims from other religious groups too. Religious leaders from the area affected areas have rejected the report as one that is covering up for the government.
Ethiopians in the country are not allowed to organize demonstration and peaceful protest although it is a constitutional right which may partly explain the armed resistance in the Amhara and Oromia regions of Ethiopia.
Ethiopians in the Diaspora Organize peaceful protest very often as these rights are restricted in Ethiopia unless it is for the purpose of supporting the government in power.
DW Amharic cited protesters in Berlin as saying “The Ethiopian government has not been able to stop recurring and deliberate killings and atrocities” against the followers of the church in the country.
They called on the international community to put pressure on the Ethiopian government to end the killings and injustice on the followers of the church.
Human Rights Organization, except the Ethiopian Human Rights Council, have not yet initiated a campaign to condemn the massacre of Ethiopian Christians.
There have been similar Ethiopian Diaspora protests in the UK and the United States.

I did not just dream about it and woke up one day and start hallucinating with it. Not at all. It is rather etched in stone in the history of mankind. I am not alone in that assertion. I have more than 2 billion world citizens that back me up in my calling the old country Ethiopia the gem of the colored. It is revered in the Holy Scriptures. You need modern day evidence? He is not alone saying this but he is joined by more than 2 billion Muslims around the world including those in remote villages in Indonesia, the Philippines and steppes of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and even in the slums and ghettos of Egypt(those superpower wannabes in Al-Qahirah notwithstanding).
This is the country that some of you bigots and connivers want to tear apart.
