Toronto – Azeb Worku, Ethiopian Journalist and movie director, is reportedly released after hours of detention in the capital Addis Ababa.

She was detained on Thursday.  It is believed that her arrest was related to a status update she shared on her social media page regarding what many observers call inhuman and horrifying demolition of houses in the capital Addis Ababa which Abiy Ahmed’s government undertook under the cover of “corridor development.”

In the update she shared, she highlighted that  residents were given only 20 days to vacate their own houses.

So far there has been no parliamentary discussion  on the importance of demolition of houses in the capital Addis Ababa. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed makes a decision about it.

There have been several rounds of demolition in the capital that displaced hundreds of thousands of third and fourth generations of residents in the city.

The latest round of demolition is in connection with Abiy Ahmed’s $15 billion dollar palace project – it has been named as “chaka project.”

The Prime Minister told parliamentarians not to ask him anything about the project. He said “it is not from the government budget.” And the source of the funding is unknown to the public to date , and the prime minister is very defensive and secretive about it.
