Toronto – Fano forces in Gojjam were undertaking what they call “100 mountains” campaign over the past eight or so days in response to the latest round of massive deployment and “final” military operation by Abiy Ahmed’s government.
Road closures were imposed and there were a series of battles in many parts of Gojjam and other areas of the Amhara region. Fano are claiming victory in many areas.
The government on its part is claiming major victory and the government’s “media” army is projecting – on different social media platforms – an image that “Fano is crushed.”
It is clear – based on multiple Ethiopian news sources and video footage emerging on social media – that the government is far from winning the war and rather it seems that it has suffered several defeats. The battle in Sekela, which is less than 30 kilometers to Bahir Dar, is a clear example. Over 40 government forces are captured. Dozens killed and wounded. Also, Fano forces seized more than 30 million Ethiopian birr From the Defense Forces.
