Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Hollywood actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian Angelina Jolie visited St. Peter’s Specialized Hospital in Addis Ababa on Sunday to check on the progress being made in the treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and to assess areas where support may be needed.
According to hospital officials, Jolie viewed the TB and MDR-TB treatment units and laboratories and interacted with patients. She shared with the officials that she had visited the hospital some years ago and was very impressed with the “multifaceted changes” achieved since that time.
The TB treatment improvements, said Jolie, were “quite impressive and quite dependable,” and she pledged future support through the Global Health Committee (GHC).
Hospital CEO Dr. Abraham Eshetu thanked Jolie for her continued commitment, generosity, and promised assistance in the fight against TB.
