Toronto – Andreas Eshete, former president of Addis Ababa University and prominent legal scholar, reportedly passed away.
According to a disclosure from Addis Ababa University, he has been getting medical treatment (for unspecified illness) and passed away on Thursday.
Andreas Eshete used to be very close to the late Meles Zenawi for which , among other things, he received criticism from many Ethiopians.
His students fondly remember him for his wealth of knowledge in the areas of law and philosophy. Some describe him as down-to-earth and humble. The news of his death is already trending in social media and his students are sharing condolences.
Funeral arrangement detail is unavailable at this time.
Andreas Eshete is survived by his son.
