Four Youths Kidnapped by TPLF Forces in Alamata

Toronto – Four youths who are said to be active in Raya Identity Question are reportedly kidnapped by Tigray Forces in Alamata, BBC Amharic reported on Monday citing their families.  They were kidnapped last Friday from the locality of Kebele 04. 

The mayor of Altamta town,  apparently appointed after TPLF forces took over the town with facilitation from the Federal government,  denied that there were no kidnapped people except for members of the militia who were arrested for causing “chaos.” 

According to the source, six family members and other eyewitnesses have confirmed that the youths were members of an association for freight unloaders, not members of the militia as TPLF leaders claim. 

There were nine youths, including the kidnapped ones, when the kidnapping happened on Friday. Those who are kidnapped are identified as Abadi Fentaw, Ambachew Haile, Kedir Nuraddis, and Moges Meles.  

An eyewitness who declined to disclose his name is cited as saying that six gunmen armed with AK 57 and two of their leaders came to the area – apparently where the kidnapping took place. 

The news report highlighted that residents from Alamata said what it called “Tigray forces” entered the Alamta town after the members of the Administration that have been running the town since the war (between TPLF and Federal government) left the city. 

The Ethiopian Defense Force and Federal Police are said to be in charge of the “security situation in the Alamata.” However, there have been reports that TPLF has posted a sizable armed force in many parts of Raya, including Alamata, and using schools as makeshift camps. 

The kidnapping is reported to the federal forces who are in charge of the town. 

As reported before, the TPLF forces undertook a military invasion in the area in a way that violated the Pretoria Agreement causing the displacement of more than 50,000 residents from the area.
